It's not really. The BCS was meant to do ONE thing, put #1 vs #2 in a bowl game, and it does that. Prior to BCS that seldom if ever happened. Sure there are problems, but the BCS didn't introduce any new problems that didn't already exist. Blame College Football and it's stupid format of not having a playoff. But don't blame the BCS.

Well if that's your opinion then last year should have been the proof you need. Teh BCS was established because bowl alliances meant that the top 2 teams in the nation rarely played each other, so they created a BCS bowl to get those teams to play....but last year those teams HAD played each other, and it went full circle retard and killed itself. that's the one silver lining out of last year's game....it killed the BCS.

MLB, NFL, it's about who is the best at the end of the year.

And if that's how those sports want to do it that's fine. I happen to prefer a system that makes every game critical. Where 1 loss could conceivably ruin your title hopes. a 4 team playoff is fine with me because we have seen situations where teams had done everything they had been asked to do and still got left out. That won't happen again starting in 2014.

Dude, how the frick are fans going to afford to attend all these games? 4 teams is the absolute max it can be.

For a fan to buy season tix, plus a CG ticket plus 2 playoff tickets you are looking at 10K+ in a lot of cases. That is stupid.

Yeah that's fricking stupid.

No other sport in the world is like that, FOR A REASON.

Play 16 games or get rid of the 1 loss ends your season bullshite if College ever wants to get near the popularity of the NFL.

The BCS has been a success, if you disagree you are too young to remember what it was like before

its called marketing. The Champ should be one of the best teams all year long, its a joke when a team that is 7-7 can beat 2 mediocre teams and them win it all like the Giants did last year. Regular seasons should matter.

I prefer 4, but 8 in CFB would not be too terrible. Nothing more than than though

I like the 4 team set up. DO NOT want an 8 team playoff

College Football is plenty popular. My fear is turning it into college basketball.

When it goes to 8 (which it will), the quarterfinals will likely be in home stadiums

now the fact that a piece of shite wisconsin team is about to be a BCS team, stuff like that is ridiculous
Why? Pre-BCS the Bif 10 Champ went to the Rose Bowl. Unless you are making the argument that Conference Championship games only exist because the BCS. ... Even though the inaugural SECCG and B12CG took place prior to the BCS.

if you want every game to be critical then you must be beside yourself with anger at the inter-divisional SEC scheduling. why should Alabama's wins over missouri and tennessee (2 SEC wins between them) matter as much as LSU's games with top 10 USC and Florida?

it's easier to fix the championship determining sytem than it is to make the season schedules even. too many football teams out there to make reg season schedules even.

No it's not, it's not even on the same planet as the NFL.

College sucks for the most part, 4 team playoff won't change it much.

Who is going to comprise the selection committee?

That will play a huge role in how successful the playoff system will be.

This would help a little bit. If a loss for LSU to A&M at the end of the year meant the difference between hosting Wisconsin in Death Valley or having to go up to Madison in the freezing arse cold, it would make up a bit from what was lost.

wait, wut?

Are you saying that 1 loss GB had to the Giants last Jan didn't ruin their season?

FOR A REASON.

yeah, marketing.

college will never approach the NFL because it's not pro football. 1 loss ruins ends your season in the NFL chief, its just the timing.

The problem in CFB is one loss ruins the season for some teams, but not for others.

Come on man...nobody in the top 10 has more than 2 losses, and there are some serious scheduling inequities there. would anyone seriously take K-State (1 loss) to beat Texas A&M (2 losses) at this point?

The playoff will have it's problems and will be bitched about. There needs to be a massive reworking of NCAA systems

Plus the B(C)S is just as guilty of making the regular season meaningless. Ask Auburn in 2004 or Cincy in 2009 how much their regular season meant. Last year the "Game of the Century" meant nothing. Utah and Boise might be mid majors but they've been left out even after proving they could hang with the big boys.
