90% of the problems fix themselves if these collectives just start acting with some fiscal sense.
I personally think they eventually will, rich guys don’t get rich by being financial dumbasses which is what is happening right now.

Agreed. It blows my mind that all of this is being done with a large amount simply from donations. How long can that persist? Although, I guess that's exactly what it was in the past just under the table. I do think the free reign of this has made prices go up.

Well the pros have figured it out. It's not like they can sign a minimum deal and take NIL money to sign with a pro sports team

So you think LeBron James can't take 400 million from Nike to sell his shoes?
You think Pat Mahomes can't take 10 million from State Farm to film a commercial?
You think all this counts towards the salary their teams are paying them? Some of you are either too dumb to comprehend what you are talking about, or are too lazy to do 10 minutes of reading to educate yourselves on how things actually work.

mine would be no deals or promises until you sign and arrive on campus for recruits coming out of high school.
Would that be an LSU policy or a NCAA rule because they cannot make that rule.

Only allow NIL for second year players and up.

Impossible

Some form of this is coming with revenue sharing. But again, this will not stop NIL at all, and the addition of revenue sharing does not give the NCAA one bit of control to now outlaw NIL.

The transfer rules need to be fixed before NIL

Transfer guidelines need to be fixed first

What is that a legal ruling already idk?

Cash fines based on a percentage of your NIL money based upon behavior standards and grades
not athletic performance

Fix the transfer rule. Not that difficult. Wouldn’t fix everything but would go a long way.
Posted on 12/4/24 at 9:05 pm to stephendomalley
If you transfer then you have to pay back to the collective any money that has been distributed to the athlete.

NIL money isn’t a salary. No way they will be able to cap NIL money
Ban the ciaches / colleges from being involved.
Problem solved.
If a kid wants to negotiate with a car dealership to cut a commercial, that’s on them.
Brian Kelly should not be offering / coordinating NIL deals. That’s where the train ran off the tracks.

Require some sort of service time accrual before you hit the portal.
2 years after high school grad, or 1 year if you meet certain snap counts.
And you only get to transfer once while undergrad. If you graduate, you can transfer a second time.

Get rid of national signing day and early signing day. Recruits can sign at anytime. These bidding wars would go away.
Posted on 12/4/24 at 10:20 pm to stephendomalley
Just fix the portal and make schools be stuck with flops for a few years on hefty contracts and it’ll fix itself.

If you back out of an NIL agreement or commitment, you and your family and your friends get sent to concentration camps.

Pretty much where I stand. Money should not be involved in the recruitment process. Players should not be signing to a school based on who paid them the most. What they choose to do once on campus, I don't really care at that point.

Each deal carries a minimum 3 year agreement. No transferring after every season for better deals.
How do you legislate that. Not all NIL is through athletic department's collectives. If a business wants to sign an athlete to wear their product, how do we legislate the length of contract that private business offers?
