USC vs Texas 2005. This is one of those games that more than lived up to the hype going in.

LSU vs Alabama 2011 was one of the best regular season games by far. Two conference and division rivals ranked #1 and #2 in the country. The two teams were almost mirror images of each in style of play. Then of course the Nick Saban storyline added to it. It was an absolute slugfest.

Too bad Iowa State of all teams rendered that all-timer irrelevant.

9-6 was the best imo in terms of every single play being tense as frick.

Kick six was also increible because that game really had it all. Implications, rivalry, oustanding offensive plays, outstanding defensive plays. Big turnovers, big stops. And of course, one of the most unlikely endings.

That game was an all timer BEFORE the final play.

I’ve never seen a game where every play seemed as important as that one. Tense is right.

The USC vs Texas game would have been totally different if Reggie Bush didn't lose his mind and lateral the ball on the 20 yard line in the early second quarter. They would have been up 14-0 with all the momentum.

Florida State vs Auburn a few years ago is a forgotten great game and one of the best I've watched.

If we are talking regular season it's Florida vs Tennessee in 2001.

That Boise/Oklahoma bowl years back was prime entertainment.

That's a perfect description. Everyone was on the edge of their seats the entire game

There were a couple Florida/FSU games that are up there for best regular season games.

Not the greatest, but underrated is the ‘93 Sugar Bowl. Bama vs Miami. The first bowl coalition game pitting #1 vs #2. Miami, with heisman winner Gino Torretta, full swag, talking shite before the game. Gene Stallings (the most likeable Bama Coach ever), leads Bama to victory.

This was back when I had the sec pride and pulled for good ole’ southern football over the thugs.

It’s hard to top USC-Texas because of magnitude, players, circumstances, etc.

I’ll add that I don’t think any of these I list compare, but they deserve a spot in this thread in terms of the stakes involved:

2001 Tennessee @ Florida
2006 Michigan/Ohio State

That line of thinking is similar to Penn State over Miami in 86

I was in attendance. Miami was never really in the game, it was over at the beginning of the 3rd quarter. I didn't have a 'dog in the fight' and felt that Bama was in control the entire game.

USC vs Texas a little too high scoring to be my best ever.

The fact it was high scoring is actually a testament to how good that game was. Texas was loaded on D. Their secondary was Michael Huff, Cedric Griffin, Aaron Ross and Michael Griffin. 3 first rounders and a second rounder.

SC was not quite as good but still had guys like Malaluga, Cushing, Frostee Rucker, etc. The fact both offenses lit it up on defenses loaded with future NFL talent tells you how good they were.

It has to be SC/Texas. There were other good ones, but a NC with that much talent and such a tight, comeptitive game throughout. .
