Other games have had more breathtaking plays, but no game in the history of college football has matched the combination of the high stakes, high quality of play for the entire game and great ending that we witnessed in the 2006 Rose Bowl.

He's right about the high quality of play...except for some Brain farts by Bush and his ill-advised lateral...boths teams were just playing lights out football.

1st Downs:

Texas 30
USC 30

Total Yards:

USC 574
Texas 556

Passing:

USC 380
Texas 257

Rushing:

Texas 289
USC 209

Time of Possession:

USC 19:20
Texas 17:19

On paper you would have thought USC had won instead of losing by 3. But a 4th and 2 will do that to you.

The USC fans were insufferably arrogant (yes, this is coming from a Texas Ex).

All I heard all night was a "Thunder... Lightning" chant (Bush and White), but boy they were stunned at the end.

Michigan fans are very, very similar to Texas fans. Laid back, witty and super-arrogant.

I'm sorry, aggy. It was a very entertaining game. Is there room to put up the score on the side of your stadium?

So beating Alabama on the last play of the game in the regular season is greater than a walk off in the National championship in OT? By a backup true freshman.

Gotcha lol

They are both epic, but one was on the biggest stage possible. So I would give that one the nod if I’m being non bias. Just because one game made sooooo many people happy doesn’t mean the game that made sooooooo many people sad isn’t greater.

Maybe if y’all finish that year off it adds to the greatness of that iron bowl.

The Alabama/UGA game just wasn't that great of a game, regardless of the outcome. You had to change QBs halfway through, and UGA went completely conservative in the second half. It wasn't a back and forth affair like the others mentioned.

My apologies, but still, a kick 6 on the last play of the game is once in a lifetime type of thing. A 41 yard pass on 2nd and 26 isn't quite the same.

Both title games with Clemson-Alabama were fantastic. Seeing Watson make play after play til the end is one of the most memorable performances at the biggest stage was very Young-esque.

What takes a lot of luster off of the NCG last year is the fact that Alabama shouldn't have even been in the playoff. I don't consider that title or your 2011 title legit.

You're opinion is trash if you really think a 40 yard TD pass is better than a housing a kick from the back of the endzone to win.

The 'Choke at Doak' probably being the best ?

I actually think the 1997 game at the swamp was the best.
