What NFL teams in the 90s would've won a Super Bowl if they had an above average QB?

Was listening to a podcast and this was what they were talking about. Brought up 1991 Saints.

Any other contenders?

The Steelers had some really good teams in the 90's that would have won without Neil O'Donnell

No one was winning a playoff game in RFK against the Redskins that year. The 1991 Redskins were a phenomenal and grossly underrated team.

Schottenheimer's Chiefs teams immediately came to mind for me.

Cunningham was very much above average that season.

Chiefs. A washed up/beaten up Montana took them to the AFC champ game

1999 Bucs is the most obvious answer. Imagine holding the Greatest Show on Turf to a TD and FG and still losing. Also, the post-Montana Marty Schottenheimer Kansas City Chiefs. They had an incredible defense that they wasted because their offense scored 7 and 10 points respectively in their two playoff losses.

Maybe the Chiefs. They had a great defense anchored by Derrick Thomas and Neil Smith but the offense was mediocre....they finally got Montana for a couple of years but he wasn't enough to elevate the team to Super Bowl caliber.

Definitely the 91-92 Saints.

Defense was a brick wall.

Imagine if someone like Dan Marino was the QB.

Also with the chiefs you can't forget Steve Bono and Elvis Grbac.

Biggest blunder was starting an injured Grbac over a red hot Rich Gannon in the 97 playoffs.

Falcons, Chiefs, and Steelers.

Neil O'Donnell got paid well for throwing that Super Bowl against Dallas.

Marty could have had Joe Montana, John Elway, and Dan Marino and he still would have run the ball 40x a game and been scared of his own shadow during crunch time.

The 86' & 87' Browns games broke him as a playoff coach.

The 06 Chargers went 14-2 and had 11 Pro Bowlers (including at QB). Poor Schotty.
