Those are terrible numbers compared to college football. Mac and sunbelt teams get 20,000+ into their stadiums.

That's the 3rd tier league.

But it definitely wouldn't pull what college football pulls now.

Go compare to USFL/XFL/AAF attendance numbers. Here's the UFL from 2026 (and they use similar-sized stadia to League One)

Avg attendance across the league was 10,748. Three team were above 50% capacity. Would you consider that a successful league?

League One was comparable to that. League Two and the National League are far worse.

Because CFB is that minor league. Wow. That was easy

Which the NFL does not have to fund whatsoever. They really like that aspect I would imagine and want to keep it that way. They’re making out like bandits and get a fresh new influx of talent every year on a schedule.

At some point it bursts. The universities will license the branding and lease the facilities for the revenue sports to PE or some entity that runs the business.

Is that 5 yrs or 10 yrs. Rosters today are at $45-50 mil that only escalates moving forward. The problem is every year there will be a team like LSU this year. A couple of dissapointing season and they throw cash at the problem.

It raises the floor for everyone moving forward.

League One is weird because you always have former Premier League clubs (like Leicester this year) playing clubs for whom League One is the peak of their existence…

I honestly don't understand the logic of giving millions of dollars to a college athletic program every year.

There is no return on investment like major leagues.

And then there are years like last year, where you give Brian Kelly enough to get a top portal class and don't even get entertainment out of it.

LIV should be a warning for college football. Huge pockets bankrolling the enterprise (Saudis with golf, boosters/alumni like Graves, et al for college sports) But, if they get bored/offended, change priorities or suffer financial setbacks...Poof! There goes the money.

I think this has proven false time and time again with minor leagues associated with pro teams as opposed to colleges. The reason people love college football and basketball and baseball is not because of the talent level, it’s because the school.

I really doubt it. No minor leagues in any sports have ever moved the needle in attendance/tv ratings.

Exactly which is why the whole NIL concept is a complete farce. Their perceived value is tied to the letters on the front of the jersey not the back of the jersey!

Doesn't really exist any longer as amateur athletics.

It's either pro- or semi-pro now.

If you truly believe these players have true NIL value then you are incredibly naive.

It is 100% pay for play. Most people tune in to watch their favorite team play not specific players.

The median NFL player earns very little from off-field endorsements—often under $10,000 to $50,000 per year and you believe most of the college players have value that isn't tied to brand.

Undoubtedly some of them do… you don’t think the Indiana Hoosier players deserve the difference between what Indiana made when they sucked and what they’ll make as they defend their natty?

Some do but not many and those that do have true NIL in my opinion are still extremely overvalued. Let's be honest, who here has gone to raising canes because the Mannings and Nussmier were in a commercial. Did powerade sales have a significant spike in sales because Jayden Daniels touched the win bar? Are their sales going down this year because of the latest NIL blunder?

Mendoza won the Heisman last year and Pavio was a media darling last year. Without looking it up can you name a single product that they endorsed?

This is a different discussion. This is revenue sharing not NIL. I know I am in the extreme minority here but no I don't think they deserve the difference in revenue. I personally believe they were more than fairly compensated for their efforts. $65,000 a year in tuition and housing. Throw in the intangibles food, clothing, elite training facilities, leadership training, elite coaching, elite healthcare, etc. they probably have a total package of $100,000 per year. In my opinion this is more than fair.

If the value was in the athletes and not the brand then private equity would partner with the NFL to set up competing leagues instead of trying to partner with colleges.

These comparisons to soccer are retarded. We have closed leagues. Nothing like Europe. A league one team can one day play in the premier league. Alabama can't play in the NFL.
