Because NFL network was their leverage for every package other than the Sunday afternoon packages they could put out to bid…

So now they'll talk even more inessentially about the NFL than they already do.

Rather than the shitty arse product of the NBA. Still much would prefer they stay separated.

It is apparently worth $2 billion, give or take.

It would have been $3 billion if they kept Kay around for Good Morning Football.

I think it would legally qualify as littering if she were dumped on Bristol

Sounds expensive to me

The TV rights deals with all the other networks are all locked in for another decade and NFL Network's slate of games is crap.

A couple of shite matchups for games played in Europe that have 9am Eastern / 6am Pacific kickoff times....and a couple of Saturday games in week 17.

Redzone is cool, but not $2B cool

I guess the only positive is that maybe ESPN will shift most of their NFL talking heads and analyst shows to NFL Network and give more air time to other sports.

Rich is woke as hell. He won't mind one iota.

NFL Draft coverage just went to shite. Haven't watched ESPN's in a long time.

Wonder what this means for NFL films

Kind of wild the NFL is willing to sell off its media arm and personal PR machine for a 1 time 15 percent rise in revenue

Me neither. The NFL Network's coverage of the draft and the HOF ceremonies has always been much better than ESPN's coverage of either. Since Mike Mayock left, the NFL Network's draft coverage hasn't been what it was when they had him, but it's still better than ESPN's.

I’m fine with it if RedZone becomes part of ESPN+. Though they’ll probably jack the price up.

It doesn’t rise to the level of anti-trust because of the OTA network deals, but it damn well ought to. Seems like an awfully large loophole to me. frick Disney/ABC/ESPN

ESPN is owned by Disney, so it would be Disney buying them, which they could easily afford to but I am sure there are laws preventing it.
