This is laughable.. Yes, he’s a good coach but half the retards on the board could’ve won with the talent he brought in. Brossette, Moses, Brumfield, Tim williams, and all these D1 guys didn’t decide to go to UHigh because he was a good coach. They were approached to go there and told they wouldn’t have to pay to attend the most difficult school to get into in BR. Let’s not make Mahaffey out to be the next Lombardi because he could win with the best team Gordon and others could buy. Again, he’s a good coach but not even the best coach in the area over the past 5 years or so.

Or Mahaffey is the best recruiter in the state currently?

The push to bring in stud athletes who otherwise likely wouldn't have gotten in or even considered U-High appears to be over
And folks wonder how we ended up with Select and Non-Select.

The well is far from dry. They have a pipeline well into the middle school if not younger coming up the ranks.

I don't understand high profile high school coaches going to public schools, where the supplemental pay is set at $3250 in Livingston parish across the board no matter what school you're at. That's $3250 A YEAR

His "teaching" will be doing 3 weight lifting classes with his football kids. The booster club will supplement extra money to make his yearly salary around 60k. Just my guess

He did less than that as a PE teacher at U-high

Leaving UHS for Walker. Interesting.

Go look at Mahaffeys first 3 years compared to the years before he arrived
In his first year, Brosette transferred and started as an 8th grader. Tim Williams transferred from Glen Oaks and sat out his sophomore season. I'm very familiar with those first years because players did start appearing out of thin air, because I saw those middle school teams U High had get stomped.

I know nothing about HS coaching salaries, but he’s gotta be making more than 60k at this point right? Especially if they outbid Uhigh

He’s getting $70k plus no teaching

Typical answer when you know I hit the nail right on the head. You must’ve been one of the little guys that got a ring because mommy/daddy bought the players from north BR to get you a title hu? We never played Uhigh while I was in school. That’s when they were getting beat by Dunham and Episcopal by 30.

Jeez glad I didn’t go into coaching.

This is true, but U High is not a private. He was on state benefits/retirement.

You know Episcopal has beaten uhigh like once in that past 25 years?
And that one win they have was by 3

Not anymore, OGB doesn't have the clout it once had post-obama...10 years ago the only draw to public teaching was the group benefits but it really isn't a draw any more.

How old is the guy? Starting at zero years he has a LONG way to go if he didn't start paying into TRSL straight out of college.
ETA: just saw where he was paying into the system, so that's a lateral move from that aspect

The big three in LP don't have Head Football/ADs that teach a class. Well I can speak for DS and Live Oak
