U-High should go all out to bring Doug Pederson back to high school football, the failure of never winning a state title has to be eating at him.

Will he be able to recruit at Walker like he did at Uhigh?

Mahaffey turned Uhigh around well before McKernan was in the picture.

The formula was still the same before that. Just different providers.

Go look at Mahaffeys first 3 years compared to the years before he arrived

He didnt have elite players in his first years, and he started winning

These elite players didnt just decide to go to Uhigh out of thin air. Uhigh could have always recruited them if they wanted to. They cam because Mahaffey showed he was the best coach around and earned that reputation

Sans Brossette, who is someone he found as a 7th gader, brumfield, and a year of Tim williams.

All of the other big contributors on that team were home grown boys

The push to bring in stud athletes who otherwise likely wouldn't have gotten in or even considered U-High appears to be over (I think they have or will have a new admissions director). Couple that with I'm sure is a good salary in a growing area of the metro and I can see why he would leave.

This is laughable.. Yes, he’s a good coach but half the retards on the board could’ve won with the talent he brought in. Brossette, Moses, Brumfield, Tim williams, and all these D1 guys didn’t decide to go to UHigh because he was a good coach. They were approached to go there and told they wouldn’t have to pay to attend the most difficult school to get into in BR. Let’s not make Mahaffey out to be the next Lombardi because he could win with the best team Gordon and others could buy. Again, he’s a good coach but not even the best coach in the area over the past 5 years or so.

I don't understand high profile high school coaches going to public schools, where the supplemental pay is set at $3250 in Livingston parish across the board no matter what school you're at. That's $3250 A YEAR

Booster clubs can supplement a coach's pay if they so desire. Maybe Walker has a booster club with money?

Pretty sure there are ways around that. Like Central making Sid the AD so that he didn’t have to teach and they could throw money at him

AD is set at $2250 across the board...so $5500 a year to coach football and run all of the athletics for that school, which isn't easy

ETA: in Livingston Parish, to be head coach and/or AD you have to hold a teaching position which is more than likely Civics or PE for him

I don't keep up with HS football coaches...did this guy graduate from Catholic '96?? I remember someone by that last name (I was '97), and it looks like the same guy. Weird coincidence, if not.

Yeah, I was just saying Livingston Parish isn't a place where you come in and coach and run athletics and call it a day

His "teaching" will be doing 3 weight lifting classes with his football kids. The booster club will supplement extra money to make his yearly salary around 60k. Just my guess
