Turns out if you dress up in a costume and give away free chicken fingers, you convince some LSU men's basketball fans to love you for life, even at other schools.

Or if you make the tournament four years in a row and win the SEC. You support a coach that will end his tenure something like 16-60 in conference.

Wade is a genius at the analytics side of things but it is and always has been a poor X's and O's Coach.

THIS his teams were scrappy effort ball with good skill players involved. Wade is a good coach but he’s not some x and o’s wizard at all. For me I think he’s a bit overhyped

That's because LSU has struggled to be relevant in basketball for most of the posters on this board's lifetime. Dale retired 30 years ago and we stunk at the end of his tenure (SEC records of 4-12 in 95-96 and 3-13 in 96-97).

We went to the Tournament a ton in the 80s, the first 4 years of the 90s, and then stunk until Brady really showed us what street ball was, and he's been gone 18 fricking years!

Since the Final Four 20 years ago we've got 2 NCAAT appearances not from Will Wade

Just making the tourney means nothing.

That’s like aspiring to be average when you are horrible. Guess what: whether you are average or horrible, the bottomline is you are irrelevant.

LSU should be trying to hire a way better coach than Will Wade

Very well stated

That’s how I felt about Wade all along. His teams were entertaining though.

1-4 in their last five games with two bad losses to bottom-feeders. Seems like there might be lockerroom problems.

Don’t move the ball around on offense, poor shot selection, etc. Obviously recruiting is probably 80+% of the battle but never seemed like a good Xs and Os coach. I guess McMahon was supposed to be kinda the opposite but this McEra has not been any fun at all.

You are a moron.

2019: Number 12 in offense in efficiency
2020: Number 5 in offense in efficiency
2021: Number 5 in offense in efficiency
2022: Number 6 in defensive efficiency

In 2019 LSU was a 3 seed...it's highest seed since 1980. The AD did not allow Wade to coach in the NCAA Tournament

The tournament was canceled in 2020

In 2021 LSU was an 8 seed. A lot of pre-tournament predictions had them picked as a 6 or 7 seed, so 8 was a little disappointing as it set up a 2nd round game vs. No. 1 seed Michigan. Beating No. 1 seeds can be tough

In 2022 LSU was a 6th seed. The AD fired Wade less than a week before LSU's first tournament game.

It's a bit difficult to fully evaluate Wade's NCAA Tournament performances at LSU when he was only allowed to coach in one of the (would have been) 4 tournaments. Regardless, his tenure was the most consistent period of winning in decades for LSU. And given only two SEC programs have won NCs since 2000 (Kentucky and Florida), I'd say "reaching the tournament" every year is at least a good step in the right direction.

Many say this. But the NEVER give names as to who that person is and how it is realistic he comes to LSU. LSU is not going to hire one of the top 10-15 HCs currently at a power conf. program. It simply isn't going to happen. This isn't football. Those hires aren't as frequent in basketball and, frankly, aren't necessary. There ARE coaches out there who are better than Wade. No question. There may even be multiple guys who are currently at mid-major jobs who are as well. But those guys will all have a lesser resume than Wade. So LSU would be hiring on potential, not production.

Hopefully, LSU will be in the midst of a coaching search within the next two weeks. If, during that period, someone posted Wade's resume WITHOUT his name on the top, LSU fans would be screaming to hire that guy! Yet, if you put the name on the resume suddenly "LSU can do better".

or maybe it was just consistently winning at a school that has mostly been mediocre too bad in basketball

You dumb dumbs keep moving the goalposts on wade, no one acts like he's this elite coach destined to hang multiple NC banners....but the fans liked him and he won more consistently than the coaches who preceded him and sure as shite was better than the current dipshit.

I want LSU to consistently be relevant in March and wade was doing that. McMahon can't even keep LSU relevant once we hit conference play, yet you continue to suck his dick and hate wade. It's bizarre

in CBB this is false. It's a sport almost completely built around its postseason and the fun of playing in tournament games.

It's not a championship or bust sport due to the flawed nature of how it crowns its champion.

LSU fans’ infatuation with Will Wade is hilarious, as he hasn’t ever won shite, but their football coach fits that mold as well.

better than hiring someone with no resume simply because daddy wanted him to have the job huh? Idiot

Bruce retired at the end of September. Auburn wasn't going to be able to hire a new HC from outside the staff literally weeks away from the start of preseason practice. Bruce more or less forced AU in to hiring his son. However, I bet AU is not going to give Steven 5 years of awful results because of...circumstances.

NC State is in freefall.

Getting ran off their court. This would be five losses of the last six games. Currently an 8 seed.
