Don't really care about how he did it. It's kinda crappy for it to be posted on the internet though.

I think he did a great job with the discussion. This generation is soft and within the AA community there is a lack of accountability for one’s actions when it comes to young males. Prime made his points to try to get some of these kids to see that you have to cut loose people in your life that bring you down. Hold them accountable for their actions.

100% on the money.
This entire forum CLAMORS for accountability in our society, no matter the race. The AA community is BEGGING for a strong AA Leader to step up & show their entire community that acting like a clown will get you called out/embarrassed/take away the chances you claim you want.

You want to make an omelet = you gotta break some eggs.
Anyone "complaining" about this being done in front of the team/on the documentary series = doesn't understand the HBCU athletics culture NOR how badly this is needed.

These eggs are 18+ yrs old. The door to acting an arse is closing. I'm here for the era of FAFO. It SHOULD serve as a warning to the rest & future players. That's the point. If you don't get it = you're still part of the problem.

He does shite like this and he was preaching about HBCUs and how you don’t have to go P5 you can come to a HBCU and be successful and get drafted, and all HBCUs needed was for black players to commit

And then he bailed on them and is taking his players with him.

Exactly. I was thinking the same thing.

He said at the beginning that he needed his team's help deciding what to do. In reality, he already knew what he'd do. Like you said, he argued down dissenting opinions.

This team meeting was all for show.

This board is constantly saying all these coddled kids need to be taught real discipline, we get video of a kid learning the hard way if you frick around you'll find out, and now y'all don't like it?
HELL NO I don't like it.

Discipline the kid, dismiss him if you want or need to.
I don't need a video of it, just tell me he's out if that's the case.

I'm not too fond of the team vote thing, but again if you want to go that route, do it behind closed doors.

I'd prefer he (Deion) take ownership of the job, act like a mature adult, call the kid into his office, and tell him that way.

I don’t have a problem with how he handled this, but it’s just weird that it all has to be recorded.

I have a problem with it, and that's the camera being there.

I don't give a rat's arse about the team vote. But if another player had recorded it and posted it online, his arse should be the next one off the team. For the head coach to do it, it's just being a drama queen.

what did young Pope do that warranted such theatrics on Deion's part?

I am not sure, but he claims that he got hurt at Fall Camp, was not given a fair shake, and said "F*** this S***, I'm ready to go home". This Tweet was deleted.

F*** This S***, I'm Ready To Go Home

Here's the quote in C/P

Mark Pope addressed his dismissal in a since-deleted tweet.

No disrespect to anyone but, it’s 3 sides to every story. Mines, theirs and the truth. So I’m going to tell mine. I’m going to start by saying I never disrespected ANYBODY such as my coaches, teammates, and anyone else within the building. I have NEVER been a bad kid to be labeled as a “cancer”. Moreover, July 5th was my very first day going to Jackson. I went up there to practice with the team and I was not enrolled nor did I have a physical to even practice but, they still threw me out there and I ended up getting hurt, which was not my fault. I came back to Jackson in august around camp due to me still finishing my class at UM. I missed my first week of camp due to my injury. First game they didn’t take me to travel for no reason whatsoever. When I entered the transfer portal first game I was let back on the team the following week and this was the only chance I was given. I never needed “2” or “3” chances because I never did anything wrong to ask for another chance. After letting me back onto the team coach Prime himself vouched for me to play Grambling state game. Moving forward I never was able to get any reps in practice for NO reason at all! They never gave me a full drive in a game. They would give me at the most 3 plays. Moral of the story I was never give a CHANCE!! because of this I stated “F*** this s*** I’m ready to go home”, which resulted in me being kicked off the team. I never spoke down about the JSU “Family” nor did I speak harmful to anyone on this team. I’ll end it with this!! Overall I’m still grateful for the opportunity that was given to me thanks coach Prime. ????
