The Virginia Tech subreddit said the guy who catfished the player was sort of known as an unsavory character in the community. He has probably done this type of thing before. The article said this was the players second time visiting the guy.

Makes me wonder what the circumstances were for the first meeting. Was the wig and makeup game that tight?

Something isn’t adding up.

I am by no means condoning his killing but that was a mighty dangerous game the victim was playing. He can't be the first person to die from it.

This is going to go down as another hate crime statistic where black trans people are abused or murdered. Now I see how it happens.

(Edit: I was unaware the dude was white until the TD detectives got on the case)

Exactly, at first somewhat get freaking out, obviously not to the point of beating him to death though. It being the second time, well that opens up a lot more questions.

I met her in a club down in old Soho
Where you drink champagne and it tastes just like coca cola
C-O-L-A, Cola

She walked up to me and she asked me to dance
I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said Lola
L-O-L-A, Lola
La-la-la-la Lola

Well, I'm not the world's most physical guy
But when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine
Oh my Lola
La-la-la-la Lola

Well, I'm not dumb but I can't understand
Why she walked like a woman but talked like a man
Oh my Lola
La-la-la-la Lola
La-la-la-la Lola

Is it rape if you lie about your gender in order to get sex?

Depends on the state and the judge/jury that will be interpreting the law. Many states do have rape by deception laws, but these weren’t written with transgendered individuals in mind. No state to my knowledge has laws explicitly designed to criminalize a transgender not disclosing their transgender status to sex partners.

I get the desire to criminalize this but it’s a tricky topic because it opens up a can of worms. If you are sterile, is it a crime to not disclose this to sex/marriage partners? What about if you have an STD (the only disease which it is a crime to not disclose at present is HIV). What if you lie about being a virgin? Etc.

From the VT subreddit

The law and order writers are probably already coming up with an episode on this.

quote:

From a Blacksburg townie — I would like to offer some insight. Jerry Smith, an openly gay man (nothing wrong with that), has been fired from local establishments for sexually harassing young men. I am a credible source, as I was a coworker at said previous establishment. Before this event took place, it was widely rumored that Jerry had been slipping drugs into students drinks at the local bar he worked at called El Centro Taco Bar. Not to speak ill of the dead, but stating facts, Jerry had a reputation as a predator. Knowing this information about the victim, it truly makes me curious as to what exactly occurred on the night of June 1st. El Centro, where Jerry was employed, has a very bad reputation in terms of violating ABC laws, not following CDC guidelines during the COVID pandemic, and for the past 8 months has been a hot spot for roofies. Additionally, rapes and other assaults have been reported at this location as well. With all of this, El Centro has never lost their ABC license, or faced any consequences that I am aware of. It makes you wonder, how are they getting by with all of this misconduct? Rumor has it, Jerry had ties within the Blacksburg Police Department. With this knowledge (understandably, speculation), I wonder how this investigation will be handled and if what truly happened June 1st will come to light. Regardless of what Jerry Smith may have been into, murder is a cruel fate and I am not saying he “deserved” what happened to him. But I just wanted to share the information I have of the victim prior to the incident, as I feel like it is a crucial piece of this investigation.

Wait, you don't see how that could make someone want to fight or throw a punch at someone?

Maybe you need to reread what I said, I certainly didn't say responding with enough violence to kill him is normal or expected, but it's the least surprising thing that he responded to that by getting physical, why would you pretend otherwise?

If it truly surprises you that someone would respond that situation with physical violence, I'm not sure what to tell you, seems like you're doing something weird here just for the sake of this thread. It doesn't make sense.

Could be that he knew the secret and was OK with it, until something during the second encounter made him uncomfortable. I heard similar things in similar circumstances.

The second the Va tech football player walked into that apt he knew he was dealing with a man. What ever happened afterward, it happened with him knowing he was dealing with a man.....

So no, there really isnt an excuse here to go back a second time and get angry.

Throw a punch? Yes. Spend several minutes beating a man to death? No.

So we are pretending that he actually went through the oral sex and everything without realizing it was a man? And then he found out later the second time he went to a freaking mans apt so he got angry?
