The interview I was listening to yesterday made it clear Apple wouldn’t do it.
Their negotiation style is very “my way or the highway” and they walked away from the NFL a year or two back after they made their offer and the NFL thought it wasn’t enough.

Then the Arizona BOR needs to tell Crow to STFD and STFU while the adults fix this mess.

So is half revenue from the Big 10 more than full revenue from the PAC 12? I don't understand these moves. Also when we getting a name change from these conferences?

Big 12 should invite Stanford and Tulane to get to 18 teams after the remaining 4 corner schools gets approved and tell Cal sorry
The Big 12 really should just invite the entire remaining Pac 12, then divide up into two divisions.

Tulane is a G5 school so FOX/ESPN will not pay for them to join. The Big 12 is not adding G5 schools. That's why the talk of UConn was particularly silly (unless a financially strapped ESPN was going to make an exception for the school in their backyard).

both schools certainly have the money to fund that if they wanted to.
Cal athletics is in debt up to their eyeballs.

Sounds like a good case for new budding rivalry...you just made the case for expansion, congrats!!

How did this happen?
Minutes before Pac-12 presidents planned to meet this morning and potentially agree to a Grant of Rights, Oregon officials alerted commissioner George Kliavkoff that their concerns with the Apple deal had led to a re-engagement with the Big Ten.

Oregon & Washington have longed for a B1G invite & were on a list of expansion targets that the league created under commissioner Kevin Warren, who had urged administrators to pursue the two.
UO and UW applied for membership last year. Pushback in the league ended in no vote.

Big 10 is roughly $100 million per school.
Pac12 apple deal was $200 for 9 with escalators based on subscribers.
Uh yes a half share ($50 million) is much better financially.

BIG will be about 40-45 MM. PAC 20. Plus, people don't really understand the distances out west. Tempe to Seattle is roughly the same as Tempe to Tuscaloosa. So when USC left, it put UW/O in a spot.

$200m / 9 schools, but it was a distinct possibility Apple would cut it to $200 for all of them.

The Civil War and the Apple Cup dying is a sad biproduct. Those were always extremely fun games.

Those can still happen if Oregon and UW want. Short distance games which can still be rivalry games albeit no longer in conference.

New PAC-12: Stanford, Cal, Oregon State, Wazzu, San Diego State, UNLV, Colorado State, Boise State, Fresno State, Air Force, SMU, Tulane, New Mexico, Memphis (maybe less 2 to make it 12)
Thoughts?

LOL at Cal, who turned up their noses at a lot of these schools when the PAC had USC and UCLA to fall back on.

Memphis seems like a major outlier, maybe sub them out for Wyoming or Hawaii

The problem for them is that they turned up their nose at pretty much any team joining the PAC other than Colorado, Texas, and Oklahoma.
Texas Tech, Baylor, Okie State, etc, aren’t Harvard but they are better than the schools Cal is about to be playing annually.
If they hadn’t been such dicks about it in the last big expansion, people wouldn’t be getting such a kick out of this happening.
