Dan Patrick just said per his "source":
Big 10 is over. It was decided 12-2 presidential vote over the weekend.
Pac 12 is done as well.
Neither want to be the first to say it, though. No announcement today likely tomorrow
ACC and Big 12 on the fence.
SEC is still going ahead and may want to pick off schools from ACC and Big 12 that want to play.
Texas and OU want to play.
I would be protesting and suing the frick out of these universities and admins for paying tuition for online classes and no sports.

Oh the old fallback... you're too scared.
Maybe the Big10 and Pac12 are pulling something.
Their Universities won't collapse if CFB isn't played.
SEC is the Conference getting scared if we're being honest about it. This one sport is the lifeblood for a lot of SEC Universities to exist.
Big10 and Pac12 could cut all sports and still be huge with endowments and costs of tuition.

This is one of the dumbest things I’ve read on this site.

Why not be excited to announce that you’re saving so many lives?

If Texas and ou want to play then the big 12 is playing

The parents and players are demanding all this stuff to keep them safe. If anyone died, the schools would be screwed. In this culture right now, it's easier to shut it all down than deal with being labeled the school or conference who put money ahead of student athlete safety.

Pat Forde now trying to throw water on all of it.
"They'll all cancel. SEC can't go against the medical advice of all others."

They care about the safety of people so much in this trying time of the virus that 13 of the 14 Big Ten schools are bringing back the student population for fall classes.
I mean, this is fricking ridiculous.

The virus isn't going anywhere lol. Even with a flu vaccine 50k die a year from it.
You can kick the can down the road next year but nothing will change.
This is all purely political from the schools officials.

TOSU and Iowa the two that want to play is my guess

It is a very stupid political move. As a school they lose the TV and sports money, they also lose the concession money, the donations to sports and likely academic side is taking a major hit and you lose the exposure they get with ads during the year.
Some presidents must think donations to watch accounting test will come pouring in

Nebraska and Iowa should join Big 12 for a year. Rest of the B10 can frick off

Iowa and Nebraska. The two states that are as open as Sweden right now and aren't pussies Who've bought into the fear porn.

Some lawyer probably told all the big 10 Presidents:
"if you don't football, you 're going to lose $100 million. If you get sued for liability, you're going to lose $1 billion."

At this point they may want to join for good.

But why? And I don’t want to hear they’re scared to play or liberal stooges trying to screw Trump over in the election. They make huge money too and it will be devastating to their athletic programs to not have sports as well. Are they scared of the lawsuits if, God forbid, a player catches COVID and dies? That at least makes some sense, but why not just say it? Be transparent.
I suspect the AD's of the Big 10 want to play. It's the presidents of the university that don't. You can talk about the liberal/conservative dichotomy of the whole thing, but I don't think anyone (except maybe the most disillusioned among us) denies that most of the staff/faculty/administration at universities are staunchly liberal. Those, I'm sure, are the ones who continue to be in an absolute panic over this thing and are the "squeaky wheel" in the Presidents' offices. Most don't give a shite about college athletics and the notoriety/money it brings to the school. They view college sports with intense jealousy and disdain that so much attention/money is given to athletics over them...who are much more important (in their eyes)
Many are myopic in their views and frankly don't care if college sports disappeared forever. Getting rid of them (at least for a year) would be a HUGE "victory" for many in academia. THAT'S what they really care about. Not the welfare of the kids (that's just the public guise for their real goal).
The presidents are in a tight spot. They absolutely know college football essentially funds their athletic programs and, in many cases, is a financial boon to the school and city/town in which the school sits. But one side of the argument (those who want to play) get shouted down by the media/social media with vigor should they voice their opinion. The other side of the argument doesn't, so it's just easier to make the decision that will bring the least amount of public "heat" upon them

My question is how would Forde even have a job if College sports are cancelled. Seems like the writers should be the ones being optimistic bc their jobs literally are at stake. I guess the allure of getting clicks now outweighs the high probability that a lot of them would be out of a job later.

All of BR will be able to hear Podkatt's screeching if the SEC doesn't cancel
