Another name thread started by someone who "doesn't care" about UL/UL-Lafayette/USL.

Seems to never be Cajun fans starting these dumb threads, only people who "don't care".

I'm not complaining about your fan base.

I don't see any moral dilemma in supporting LSU and McNeese. I support my team as well, and I get fired up when we don't meet the goals I think we should as a program. I don't really go to all the games, anymore, but I go to a number of them.

I was also in Lafayette when we beat your arse and that was way better than any experience I've had as an LSU fan.

Do you think ULL is the University of Louisiana?

That parking spot is empty by design.

Because the LA legislature has designed it to prevent exactly such a thing as happening.

TV people refer to them as "Louisiana" now

Our fan base has been conditioned to enjoy football. Having a consistently successful team makes it an even better experience.

ULL and ULM fighting over naming rights is just school spirit, which is a good thing.

LSU fans want a perfect season and are miserable if they do any less than an SEC championship. UL fans want a perfect season, but enjoy the ride even if we end up with only a decent season.

You'd think that a school that can't even figure out how to get the fans that want to go to the games through traffic and into the stadium and can't get the rest of the paying fans to show up for the game at all would have more to worry about than the UL name.

Show me this conditioning (in terms of attendance) before Hudspeth got there.

ULL isnt doing it for school spirit. They are branding themselves as Louisiana to try and better their athletic program and jump up to LSU's level. Thats all fine and dandy, but they are attempting to come off as something they arent. Which is just pathetic.

However the first time an announcer refers to us as "Louisiana", insecure fans feel the need to start pointless threads about our name.

No, no it's not. It's one arrogant, classless institution defying legislature that was passed by the state and trying to shove an farcical misnomer down everybody's throat. ULL is trying to pass themselves off as flagship of the ULS. That is what you are doing. You are not the flagship, have no right to be, and never will be. No matter what the frick you choose to call yourself. What you, other fans, and the administration fail to realize is that it hurting your school. People who normally had either a favorable or indifferent opinion of your school now despise it. The only fricking people that have a chance of supporting ULL are people from Louisiana. And you are alienating yourself from the state by your arrogance. Soon it will be Lafayette vs the rest of the state. That's a helluva way to advance your program.

you can't come up with a legitimate reason as to why you should be considered University of Louisiana, just excuses as to LSU fans shouldn't pay attention it, or some other equally poor excuse.

Don't make excuses, don't "defend it", tell me, advocate, WHY SHOULD YOU BE THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA?

Since ULL is part of the University of Louisiana system, wouldnt going by "the University of Louisiana" infer that the rest of the schools were under ULLs "umbrella" of sorts.
Similar to how LSU-S and LSU-E are part of the LSU system and under LSUs "umbrella".
Woulnt that also be complete inaccurate in the case of ULL - it is simply a member institution and has no higher standing than ULM or LaTech or even Grambling.

Thus, going by UL is unnecessary and in fact, silly.

I agree. But do you really think the rest of the country would go to such lenghts to determine whether the the "University of Louisiana" is actually a directional school or not. This push isn't to convince the people of Louisiana to think of ULL as THE unversity, it's to put in in the heads of folks outside the state who have no idea where Lafayette, LA is or that ULL is really just a directional school, that when you see "Louisiana" on a broadcast you just automatically think of them in the same light as "Texas" or "Wisconsin", etc. ULL is never going to be bigger than LSU. Same for Ohio University when compared to OSU. It's just a way for ULL to try to position themselves in a previously empty spot. Until recently, there wasn't a University of Louisiana, so you never saw ballgames with "Louisiana v. Florida St." or "Louisiana v. Oklahoma", etc. Why not try to fill that spot and market yourself as a "bigger" or more prominent university, even though we here in Louisiana know it will always be just a directional school.

Because they dont fricking deserve it. They should know their place

I think this is the dumbest thing I have seen since the state changed their names.
Hell ULM should just go back to NLU if ULL gets away with changing their name.

Davie, Davie Crocket, what if LA Tech decided to cry to ESPN in an attempt to get ESPN to call them "Louisiana". Despite the fact that that is not their name. What if ULM did it. Or Grambling. You and the rest of Laffy would suddenly become the biggest "insecure fans" on the planet.

ULL is not the flagship like every single school you just mentioned. Give it up already.

I think LSU and the SEC could pressure ESPN and CBS to never refer to USL as "Louisiana" or University of Louisiana.

I am quite sure a phone call from the SEC office to CBS and ESPN would ensure that USL is always refered to as Univeristy of Louisiana Lafayette.

In fact it is that type of leadership we should expect from our AD and the SEC office.
