I'm surprised it took this long.

What, exactly, is their "place"?

What hierarchy are they disturbing?

I would guess equal with the University of Louisiana - Monroe.

Flagship vs not

We know we're not the flagship.

We have almost 20,000 students; we're going to surpass that number in the next 5 years or so. Given all the improvements to athletic facilities and on-campus buildings, we're heading in the right direction.

My vision is that we can be viewed the same as a school like Southern Miss. No they are not the flagship, but they are still a major university in Mississippi. It doesn't have to be "Flagship or not!" There is some room for a middle ground.

UL Lafayette's endowment is $117 million as of 2011 (don't have the time to look-up new figures.) (1)

ULM's is $23 million. (2)

For funsies: LaTech's is $84 million. (3)

Our place is not as an equal with ULM.

(1) UL Lafayette endowment
(2) ULM Endowment
(3) LaTech endowment

I love theses threads. Until the state legally allows UL-L o be called UL, every Cajun fans needs to shut up. Period.

yes, it is.
you are both part of the UL System. you are all equal member institutions, there is no "flagship" of the UL System.

thus the rest of the thread is correct - apparently ULL doesnt know its place.

...and there is the mindset of the people that I know from ULL and Lafayette.

I think we're all arguing different things here.

People on the LSU/non-ULL side are basically saying "There is no flagship of the UL system", which is true.

People on the ULL side are basically saying "we're not on equal footing with schools like Grambling."

None of that changes the fact that you are still part of the system and not the flagship.
