I don't personally send out emails begging for us to be called anything. I'm just supporting my University's stance. I'm sure Bobby Jindal is preparing for an emergency session of congress to address the issue.
So you support your university being childish and immature all to "make a point" about naming?

We're good. I'm not an angry dissenter. Your Cajun's have netter me 350 clams the last two Tuesdays. For that I'm grateful.

If you're referencing the ES-Bristol-3 ordeal, no I did not think that was a good move, and agree that it was childish of our SID to do so.

In 2012, there were talks of mcneese coming to Lafayette. The problem was that mcneese already had a full schedule.

Wait, your school sending thousands of emails crying to ESPN in an effort to get them to call you something that isn't your name is not pathetic? But my email to ESPN telling them the reality of the situation is? Whatever, I'm good with it.
You email is pretty pathetic. Right or wrong, they are trying to rebrand a school and have an interest in the representation of the school. You just come off as pathetic trying to represent the entire state of Louisiana on a subject the has really no consequence to you. I am sure you believe the time you took to craft an email to ESPN will give them the necessary proof to stop calling ULL, Louisiana...or they just tossed in the garbage. Don't forget to like the Fan Central Facebook page.

the funniest thing about all this is that ULL people don't seem to realize how bad they come off looking in all this

That's not true at all. We got bought out of a game last year and had an open date we ended up filling with Mid Tenn.
I'm sure you were probably unavailable that weekend, but we didn't have a "full schedule"

Why not look at it this way. LSU is the flagship school and has the highest in student population of around 24K undergrads.
In Texas, UT of Austin is the largest college of the UT colleges. Thus they are known as University of Texas. The same goes for Florida in Gainesville. So if you look at the University of Louisian system, the largest in student population is ULL by a lot (16K at ULL and I believe ULM is around 9K). The reason NO school can have the brand name of UL, is due to politics in BR. I am not going to speculate on the reasoning behind this. However, an argument could be made that if any of the Louisiana school systems would be called UL, it would be ULL.

Yup and by then we had already scheduled Lamar. We weren't going to back out of that deal just because mcneese got bought out.

I thought y'all still owed us a game, I could be wrong though. Thought the last deal when went in 2007 was a 2 game deal.

So does any politician touch this mess with a 10 foot pole? I don't think so.
The week of the ULM game should be fun though, especially on the MSB. What should the O/U of number of Louisiana vs. Louisiana/UL vs. UL threads be set at?

My take on this is that both the Law (Act 45 of 1995 Regular Session) and University of Louisiana System policy ( LINK) say that neither the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, nor their athletic department, nor any other public university in Louisiana can use the name University of Louisiana, UL, or U of L.
Until the law and ULS policy change that should be the end to any of this shite.

Our total enrollment is over 18,000. ULM's is around 8,500.

Of course you arent. Because the easiest thing to do is blame politics in BR

I think it was a one time thing. And don't worry, we aren't afraid to play you. Our team this season would have smoked our 2007 team just like yall did. Tulane owned us in the late 90's and we welcomed them with open arms for our homecoming last season. So, its not a fear thing. Personally, I wouldn't mind playing mcneese every three years or so. It's a win-win financially.

Okay, I'm not arguing one way or another. Seriously.
But I'll say this: Louisiana is one of 2 or 3 states to not have a school that is "University of [state]".
Think of another state like this. There aren't many.
Posted on 10/23/13 at 1:54 pm to LordSaintly
what does enrollment have to do with much of anything? so you have a bunch of people?
UCF is one of the largest campuses in the nation, and they go by a name similar to that which you used to.
UCF would be about on par with USL.

okay. now think of a state with as many universities as we have.
their higher ed structure is different. usually they have 2-3 big schools, and satellite schools.
