Tech will sue the NCAA and win and further degrade the sport. Ho hum

Hope not. If he bet on Indiana while on the team, he needs to be Pete Rose'd... It's really not a hard rule to follow even if you are addicted.

Tech might be more likely to sue him

Well, if you're gonna bet, at least bet on yourself to win, which you should be trying to do anyway.

While this is certainly sometimes the outcome, it is not the goal.

The goal is to create addicts and take all their money. Which in turn ruins lives.

Well you know he’s cooked. You don’t bet on games 4 yrs ago then stop, and then enter rehab 4 yrs later for a habit you kicked 4 yrs ago.

While the NCAA routinely gets worked in court I think they would win that one.

Live betting balls and strikes does not make him “addicted addicted”. Dude was at the game, probably a few beers deep, tossing around a couple dollar bills to make it more entertaining. $2.50 and $1 bets is actually the most tame thing I’ve heard. Now obviously if he was betting on his own team, he’s probably cooked.

They were 3-9 the year he actually played for Indiana, and 4-8 the year before when he was on the team and didn’t really play

This story seems like a big nothing burger, blown way out of proportion. Dude bet a small sum on his team to win when he was a redshirt freshman and didn’t even appear in the games. I get rules are rules but cmon, this is far far different than when that NBA player told his buddies to take his unders and then faked an injury to sit out.

I’d love to know how hard TT was trying to keep this buried. I bet it got dirty quick

Surely you can understand why this is a big deal even if the player making the bet is not physically playing in their own games right?

It will not be a “nothing burger,” he is unlikely to play college football ever again. There is way too much money behind the sports gambling machine to let stuff like this happen and cause doubt in results

The #1 portal QB betting on multiple sports, including his own sport and his own team’s games. And checking into rehab.

It’s a HUGE story. He is done in CFB, and won’t play in another college practice, much less a college game. The rehab is to try and preserve any chance at a future pro career, which is also now in jeopardy.

This is as big of a clear-cut permanently ineligible situation that you will ever see.

I can definitely acknowledge his actions breached the rules. But I’m a proportionality guy and I don’t think betting on his games that he didn’t play in should result in a punishment that ends his college career. Unless there’s more to the story we don’t know of yet.

The small amounts make it not as bad but the best case scenario if he's at a game repeatedly betting balls and strikes is atrocious decision making.

live betting individual balls and strikes sounds as degenerate as possible
