Why are young men under 25 so addicted to gambling? I know it's always been around but it seems like it is out of control now.
Dopamine hits on a brain that’s not fully developed. Not much different from substance use or chasing adrenaline with risky activities.
It’s now just more accessible to them so we’re seeing it talked about more mainstream.

Sorsby's decision to seek treatment, according to sources, came in the wake of the discovery of Sorsby making thousands of online bets on a variety of sports via a gambling app, which jeopardizes his eligibility with Texas Tech.
The NCAA is investigating Sorsby's gambling, according to sources, as the organization forbids athletes from betting on both college and pro sports.

The “decision to seek treatment” right before the other shoe drops, love when that happens

Yeah this is him trying to get ahead of if by saying he has a problem and now he’s cured
Doubt it helps much

I hope he gets suspended.

30-day rehab for sports gambling
have a feeling that won't do much other than try to placate the NCAA.

I wonder if this would invalidate any NIL deals. The collectives “buy” the PR rights and I’ve seen clauses that state the athlete has to remain eligible and a member of whatever team.

This reminds me of the South Park sex rehab episode

If he doesn’t play it absolutely will assuming they don’t have idiots making these massive NIL contracts

Because yall older generations have completely wrecked this country and we live in a decaying society. The young generation is addicted to gambling, alcohol, smoking weed, cocaine; and Xanax, in that order.

There is something to the concept that the social contract that backstopped the American Dream (go to college and work hard in life and you will live better than your parents did) being broken in the 21st century leads to more degenerate decisions.
If a 20-something only sees successful people be successful because they got lucky (crypto, gambling, going viral) then they will chase that path over the more tired and true one.
