re: Trinity Rodman rips father Dennis Rodman: He’s not a dad. Maybe by blood, but nothing else

I don’t disagree with your larger point, but Rodman fricking with his own daughter’s emotions is just cruel and that’s not on the mom. I feel bad for Trinity.. She also got pretty lucky that she doesn’t look much like DR
The mom had kids with a very notable and very public philanderer. He had at least 2 very public divorces and his cheating ways were well known and talked about.
The mom had no excuse for getting involved with and having kids with someone who had an extremely obvious track record of being a bad absent husband.
The mom is 50% at fault. She chose to make her children fatherless.
Dennis Rodman was a known commodity by 2003 and no one can argue otherwise.

When she was drafted by the Washington Spirit at 18 years old in 2021, she became the youngest player ever drafted into the NWSL at the time. That season, Dennis turned up unannounced to the Spirit’s playoffs quarterfinal match against the North Carolina Courage, having not spoken to his daughter in months.
“When he showed up at my game, I was, like, so mad,” remembered the Spirit forward. “I started crying on the field. So I’m trying to play the soccer game and I’m crying.”
The Spirit won the game 1-0 and went on to claim the NWSL title, but Trinity was furious with her father.
“I was so mad. I was like ‘You took this happy moment from me. You f**ked with my head again,’” she said. “I’m walking over there (towards Dennis) so mad, like ‘F**k you.’ I walk over there, he grabs my head and I just start bawling into his arms as if it’s a daddy-daughter (moment).”
“After that, radio silence. I didn’t see him for, like… until this year,” she told Call Her Daddy host Cooper. “Stupid me for thinking that was gonna be some type of new spark. That was me every single time. He would come around, and I’d be like ‘Okay, here it is again. We’re gonna start something. He’s gonna be around.’ Boom, months and months and months (without speaking to him). This time, it was years.
“I think after that was when I lost hope in ever getting him back.”
That's pretty fricked up. Like, fine if you don't like your kid's Mom but at least be a decent parent for your kid. They didn't ask to be born into that bullshite.

And we all sit here and act like these women don't know...of course they know...they don't care.
We all knows the athlete is POS, that's well covered and documented in our culture. What we haven't done is ask why women choose to have children with men who are never going to be present just for fame and a paycheck. The culture and outcome are so long noted...
Wilt Chamerlain to Antonio Cromartie to Tyreek Hill to Calvin Murphy....
Same story for 60 years....

I covered Rodman the year he played for the Mavs in old Reunion Arena. He thought he was Michael Jordan.
Before games he was like anyone else on the team. You could go ask if he had time to talk, and ask as many questions as you wanted.
After games he showered and dressed in Don Nelson's office. He had his own PR lady who would come open the door to the locker room and tell us how many questions Dennis would answer.
One night after he got a 2nd technical and was thrown out of a game, he tried to evade us.
The technical:
They called the 2nd T on him for stopping and laying down on the floor, watching both teams run to the other end of the court, after getting a foul called on him, He was trying to be funny & thought they were crazy for giving him the T.for doing that. The refs had followed the other players to the other end of the court and so did I. One of the refs blew his whistle, ran to half court and T'ed him up.
All I saw was the ref run to half court and give him the T, and then saw Rodman jump up and run right at the ref.
My reaction:
"What did he say?" I asked.
"Nothing, you didn't see him lay down?" someone answered.
"What?" I asked.
"After the foul Rodman quit playing and lay down on his side and watched everyone run to this end." they answered.
I found out basically the same way you are finding out even though I was covering the game. Thank God for replay.
Even though he'd laid down at the Mavs end of the court, he argued with the ref, who was trying to walk away from him, the full length of the court, He went out where the visiting team came out of their locker room.
What we call "The Walk and Talk":
So after the game no one cared about talking with anybody else. At least 20 guys and three of four gals are all standing in the hallway to the locker room, outside Don Nelson's office waiting for Rodman to come out. After standing around laughing about what he might say, one of the TV guys told his extra cameraman to go wait outside the office door in case he tried to slip out. A few others talked about it and headed that way too.
A couple of minutes later a Mavs assistant PR guy ran into the hall and said, "He's at the other door.!"
We all ran out the door and turned left to run down another hall to Nelson's other door. As we each got out the door, we saw Rodman walking towards us, with a cameraman & a couple of reporters in front of him, walking backwards. and people behind him nearly running to keep up. Everyone's camera and micro-recorders were recording.
We jumped in front, and then quickly, to his right side. I was holding my recorder in my right hand, kind of above my head. The whole time I was worried about accidentally hitting his face with it as i started to jog along with the crowd. He gave straight forward answers, but he was in a hurry. With my micro-recorder less than an inch from his mouth I'm listening & watching his face, and Boom! I'm on the floor. As I see the group inching away from me I realize I ran into like a square 40 gallon garbage can. I think the people behind me were the only ones that saw it and laughed.
I was done for the night.
If this doesn't make sense I apologize for the lack of an editor.
