A guy with only college experience going straight to MLB manager should be entertaining to watch, one way or another.

College baseball was never this relevant… now it is and Tony V is the biggest non-LSU reason why. The whole SEC should be rooting for him now

I understand what you’re saying. It’s different. But it’s still baseball. He motivated those figs in Knoxville. If he can be a cool dude and isn’t retarded at baseball all of a sudden I could see this working.

I never disliked him except when we played him.

Gonna be a heck of a learning curve… instead of maybe 40 games that matter combined, now he’ll have to manage 162 that count equally… no such thing as midweeks in MLB…

Then you have travel, the minor league systems…

Is he going to make the team randomly run to the outfield to bounce off the padding then back to the dugout?

This will go like Saban in Miami.

Once you are paid less than the people playing for you, college motivation or fear don’t matter.

MLB manager has to be one of the easiest roles in professional sports. I don’t see why this is such a shock hire.

He will threaten Bobby Cox's ejection records.

He is a perfect fir for the SF Giants. Why you might ask? Because college baseball is over in the month of June, and that's usually when the Giants are out of contention.

Eh, in a season 3 times as long, you can afford to have a bad month. A bad month in college baseball will ruin your entire season potentially. Every loss is magnified a lot more.

I don’t think MLB managers do much motivating. Hell, half of them don’t even set the lineup. I think it’s more important these days to have a sense of stability and kind of have that guiding hand…like Francona. Gone are the days of Bobby Cox and Lou Piniella giving them hell.

Huh? The CWS just cratered in TV ratings down 22%. It's still not remotely relevant nor is it growing.

Stats are stats. Dead sport. No one cares. I'm sorry you're a college baseball school.
