Headed to the Astros game tomorrow, which is at 1:10 pm. Nine year old son loves baseball and is hoping to get autographs, etc.

Any tips on when to arrive, best spot to try to get autographs, etc?

Thanks.

Wait near their entrance and bang on a trash can

Bring lots of cash, and buy the autographed baseballs in the team store.

Then give them to your boy and say that "you know a guy with the team."

Other than that, it's going to be tough unless your kid is willing to get loud and make himself bigger than the hoard of A-hole ebay memorabilia guys pushing their crap for signatures. Get him down by the dugout on the first row with all the other kids and guys... he's gotta want it or he will get lost in the masses.

Maybe a "I survived cancer to attend this game." or, "It's my birtday!" sign. (ETA: I would never do this, but it would probably work.)

few years back caught Bregman and a couple of other guys after the stretched etc. pregame on the 1st base line by their dugout. They usually run/stretch/national anthem then swing by for a few.... got lucky maybe? seems like a normal routine they had.

You will have better luck getting A's autographs

Astros BP will be over by the time you're allowed in

So, if you go to the LF side where the net ends earlier the better, you can catch them

Usually some Astros will come just past 1st base on the RF line past the dugout and sign a few, but I haven't been since the nets were put up past the dugouts

Pay for the pregame stadium tour. It finishes behind home plate during BP and players will come over to sign for kids.

If old enough to recognize players, visiting teams used to stay in the Westin at the Galleria in the Astrodome days.It was like shooting fish in a barrell, just waiting in lobby or outside front doors.

With a quick internet search, It looks like they stay at the Four Seasons now.

Might only get 1 or 2 signatures.
But here are your best bets.

Get there super early.

Wear your lsu gear and you might get breg's attention.

Head over to the bullpen area when the guys are warming up and you might get a reliever or off day starter to sign.

Bring some nice Mardi Gras beads... I've seen people successfully trade before.

Don't be afraid to go to visitor side. Rare to see young kids and not ebay moochers trying to get their signatures. You may get a stud player or two to give you some time.

Sounds like a good way to get balls signed with "congrats on beating cancer!" or "happy birthday! 7/8/21" which won't make much sense displayed on a shelf at home.

Whenever I was a kid, I got brad ausmus autograph on a card by going down to their dugout during pre game. It was a shite show but I had my card and sharpie ready

This is KEY. Bring your own sharpie and Team photo or baseball, etc. Don't expect the players to have pens. Make sure it can write on whatever you give them to sign.

The visitor side is a good point too. My son got lots of signatures before Game 6 of 2017 world series in LA. He even got balls from Musgrove and Keuchel. It helped that he was literally the only kid at field level in right field before the game.

Go to Skeeters game, the kids clean up there. I think every kid ends up with a bunch of autographs and a ball or 2.

This is your best shot. It's $35 each. Even still, you need your son to look cute, be a little aggressive in asking for the autographs. You also need to be lucky that there isn't some other group who monopolizes the players instead.

I've done the tour. You go down to the diamond seats right behind home plate during batting practice. I got to talk to Bregman about the LSU football game coming up that weekend. LOL!

They definitely stay at the Four Seasons as well as the basketball teams for the Rocket's games.

Sharpie for photos, caps, jerseys and blue ball point pen for baseballs. Sharpies fade off baseballs.

Kid really needs to yell for them.

Are players even allowed to interact with fans, sign autographs before game, etc. with COVID protocols in effect?

If your wife has giant knockers have her accompany the kid to the front of the line.

Yes, they started allowing it shortly after they took down the plexiglass.

Getting autos at an mlb game has always been difficult. There are usually about 30 plus people at each dugout waiting, and they only have time to sign a few.
