So, is it plausible that Nike said play the Method, or else?
false. Tiger made Nike a golf company. They wouldn't have a golf department without him. And, every other golf company would gladly give Tiger 100s of millions of dollars if Nike dropped him.

Does it make sense that Tiger switched putters? Maybe not to you. But, you aren't the best golfer that ever lived either.

I don't blame the man for letting williams go... he needed a change. It really is amazing to think back to what Tiger was 7-8 years ago when the pressure was on, and what he is now. The man didn't miss putts inside of 10 feet in majors... compare that to yesterday when he looked like he had no clue on speed and line.

His bunker play still isn't what it used to be either... he doesn't scramble and save par like he used to.

It's also crazy to think the guy is the world's #1 golfer and he's really a shadow of his former self, when it comes to the majors.

He's not terrible but you don't have to watch him very long to realize he's not the same golfer he once was. I would say he's a below average putter by PGA standards now. I will say he's still very solid at shortish putts. You watch him and start assuming every pro golfer makes every 6 footer always.

Some of you people.

Uh no. He's 4th in strokes gained putting this year on tour.

He definitely isn't the same as he once was, but he is actually putting very well this year. Putting stats can be a bit misleading but he is leading the tour in total putting and is like 4th in strokes gained putting.

I can't argue with stats that show how well he puts with the method but I will say this. It's been a very long time since I have seen him hole a big putt at a major. Like at 17 on sat. Yeah hes on the green in 4 outside of Westwood who's on in three, but you expect to see him drain it and then stand there glaring at Westwood daring him to miss. But he just didn't. And it wasn't even close to the hole. He has no confidence when it come to a gotta have putt. Is it because of the putter? I don't know.

But it is ridiculous to think Nike forced him to it. Really? The company that stood by Kobe? Dude their target market are people who rob people at gunpoint for tennis shoes. You think they give a shite? Kobe was on trial for rape. Without Tiger there is no Nike Golf. I would imagine the ONE thing Nike is praying for right now is for Tiger to win a major. And they don't care what putter he uses.

They are already fighting a losing battle with the other key big name in Rory. What if he can't work out the Nikes and bolts?

And to be honest I just don't think Tiger would play along. He wants Jacks record. He'll do what he needs to to get it.

But just my opinion

The worst part of Tiger's game for the last few years is his scoring clubs. He doesn't hit them with the same consistency and accuracy that he did 6+ year ago.

Makes it hard to score well when you putt more often from 15-25 feet than you do from 5-15 feet.

Freakin' YE Yang.

It's all relative

compared to Tiger's peak - no he will likely never reach that level again.

compared to most other professional golfers- he's still an elite player on the world stage. He has basically played himself into contention in almost every major he's played recently, but even he cannot seem to remember how to finish it off. Winning majors is difficult, and I think for him it is more upstairs than anything else at this point

I agree. I think Tiger is too mechanical and it castrates his inner ability to just make the shot when he needs it. He is naturally dominant and his new mechanical swing is messing with his mental dominance.

none of us will likely see anyone play at that level for any significant length of time.... in our lifetimes, anyway.

The guy has 'fallen' and is still the world's #1. He's just never gonna catch jack.

He's playing well on courses he's comfortable with. That used to not be the case. He used to be able to dominate any course he played.

This - one bleh round and he can't putt, has a myriad of psychological problems, a bad caddy, etc.

Everyone probably should forget the early 2000s version of Tiger where he won a few majors by 10+ strokes - the field is better now and Tiger is outside of his prime.

phil just won a major at 43 and people are confident a 37 year old tiger will never win another one.

If you stuck a gun to my head, I would agree that he would win #15. 19, I'm not so sure.

Yea I remember sitting there watching that and I was confident Tiger would still pull it off somehow, even when Yang hit that awesome shot over the tree and stuck it.

It was just so unnatural to see Tiger not pull it off, it had to of completely shaken his confidence. Then the scandal all went down, making it 100 times worse
