Players don't care about viewership. They will still get their money and tons of it

10) The continued support of divisive messages like BLM, etc. Stop with the fake social justice already.
11) Get rid of the 3 point line
12) shorten the games to 40 minutes like college

I would like to see the season shortened and see playoff games no longer than 5 games. (Remember last year when the celtics rested everybody and let the mavericks win a game so they could go back to Boston and end it there?)

Wut

Ignoring the cba, this still makes no sense

You do realize their new deal pays about 2.5x the old one right?

Gameplay is boring

Analytics have “solved” the game

Players are too friendly with each other

Players mail it in during games more than athletes in any other sport

Stars in the NBA don’t seem likable

In 1990-1991, 50 players played all 82 games that season.

Last year the number was 17.

Fans kinda prefer when the best guys show up for work.

NBA has a perception problem and for some reason they allow their broadcast partners to play into it. A real commissioner would've pulled Draymond off the air when he was crapping on allstar weekend while broadcasting it. There's no way in hell the NFL would've allowed that to happen.

While I agree with this statement, we also complain how athletes and coaches in thr NFL never say anything even remotely interesting.

Maybe but that might not be the best thing for their performance late in the season… the fundamental issue is that games before Christmas dont really mean that much when everybody wants to win in April and May and June

The in season tournament won’t fix things. They need to expand the concept and reward teams more for playing great early in the season, like if you’re the top team on January 1st you get into the conference finals automatically and start with a 1-0 lead, something like that. If you go through the first two rounds of the playoffs, it becomes you don’t have to go on the road the whole series. If you lose in the first two rounds, the winners of the second round play a play in game to determine who faces you

Or reward the top team every month in a conference. (Oct-Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb-March) with a 1-0 lead in the first round. If a team does it more than once it can become a 2-0 or 3-0 lead or even just a straight 4-0 sweep.

This theory is the worse one of them all. When played in an enjoyable, team manner, basketball may be more enjoyable than just about every sport out there.

What is an enjoyable manner? In my opinion it’s when 5 guys a Lee playing as a team, constantly moving, cutting, screening, and passing the ball. Think early 2000 spurs offense.

When the ball is whipping around the court it’s just so much fun

Load management, too many games, too much emphasis on stupid player drama, players are queens, unlikeable stars, too much team switching and super teams emphasis, too much tanking, lottery system is stupid, commissioner sucks, the playing styles suck, I could go on

Look at OKC for evidence. Rarely on national TV, they even skipped them Xmas day with best record.

SGA is just not an interesting person in terms of NBA personalities. Golf has the same issue the NBA does. There's no marketable personalities that average joes can relate to while also being something new.

After MJ, the NBA was lucky to get the LeBron era.

How's pro Golf faring in the post-Tiger era? Not well.

The type of people that end up in the NBA or playing pro Golf are not alluring or relatable.

Look at bodybuilding....more muscles than ever yet less interesting than ever....

How would you or anyone outside local viewing area know? Very little national exposure and thats my point. NBA has to learn to market rising stars and not just a few. SGA is a great on ball dribbler and makes so many moves each game that leave you in awe. He is an amazing player but no one sees him. He also plays defense.

We've seen great players, but usually those great players had a personality/charisma to them that was alluring to the average viewer. SGA is as interesting as a stone on the ground like Brooks Koepka or Jordan Speith.

KD was the most boring player around. He was good at BB. The league decides who is worthy and thats the problem. They pimp players like LBJ who needs surrounded by stars to win. He’s most famous for screwing over Cleveland and doing that special declaring 8 titles. He wasn’t liked he was a villain to most fans.

Most are boring but the NBA PR dept goes to work. They work with TV to pimp certain teams and players. Luka is also boring bit now at LAL you watch over the next year as the league goes to work pimping him.

SGA has a personality but you wouldn’t know it because you don’t see/get any of his games except rare occasion. And he plays team ball, could score 40-50 every game but defers to help team.

Not everything has to be about persona, they are players first and thats what he is.
