The phantom/ticky-tack PI calls are ruining the NFL. Refs have way too much power

IMO, a flag should not be thrown unless there is obviously blatant holding or definitive PI. This is what leads to QBs chucking it down the field in hopes they'll get flagged, which QBs like Brady get the benefit of the doubt often. At least in college, if it's a questionable foul, it's only 15 yards and a first down. Coaches used to say that 3 things happen when you pass the ball, and two are bad (incomplete or intercepted). That is not the case now.

Also, what the hell was going on with these refs yesterday for New England? I have never seen a ref look so happy in my life (it's like he was celebrating with the Pats after the TD), and one was the first to congratulate Brady after the win? This is an awful look for people who are supposed to be unbiased.

PI is the hardest penalty to judge and then you have it to where it’s spot of foul

Worst thing in the NFL

Keep in mind, the refs are enforcing new rules put in place by the league. They don't always get it right but that's how the NFL wants it called.

That PI call on aj bouye late in the game was complete bullshite.

The NFL should drop the spot foul call IMHO.

Agreed, 15 yards should be the call.

Thats every Patriots game. They have the officials on payroll. Watch the games closely and you will see Brady's line holding the opponents like their life depended it on and never get called. Its not biased officiating. The crews make no difference. The names change but the officiating doesnt. What does that tell you?

If they're hand fighting it should be a no call.

The two reasons I've quit watching the NFL are:
Too many PI calls
Ticky tack roughing the passer calls. I don't tune in to see 50 plus hear old men in smedium shirts doing hand signals and fumbling with a mic

Patriots have Ramsey on their payroll. He was strangling Cooks whenever needed.

Just throw deep underthrown balls and let the receiver run into the CB. Most effective play in the NFL.

Saw example after example first half yesterday. Pats holding, no flags. None. Down after down. But Jags? Refs flag-happy on them.

They had 6 total flags for the game

3 were pre snap penalties
1 was a blatant helmet to helmet hit

2 were PI

Oh yeah flag happy alright.

The refs clearly made the Jags false start, illegally shift, and snap the ball after the play clock. It's all a conspiracy man.

The refs clearly looked for these things on Jags but not on Pats. Same with holding and PI. Lots of ways for bias to appear legit.
