Pelicans is a fine name. It fits the state. The color scheme is where they clearly missed an opportunity. Instead of differentiating the team from every other NBA franchise (thanks to the Jazz abandoning their original colors), you go with red, blue, and gold as your colors.

They had the best slam dunk name available to them and instead went with the "D" student of the bird world.

They should be the New Orleans Krewe

I would hate not having an NBA team in Louisiana but it seems that the area only has room to support the Saints and it may be better to just let Seattle have their team back than to keep letting this organization wallow in ineptitude.

Them moving may be a mercy to us fans at this point. Frick Gayle and every dumbass that’s been a position of leadership with this franchise since the beginning.

If they move we’re not getting another team… that goes for the Saints AND the Pelicans

I’m sure Seattle would rather have the current champions that left them years ago

Same. The shitty television deal they’re on makes the games unavailable in my area. I used to care to watch but don’t give a shite anymore

If Gayle had any sense she would sell the team to someone that actually cares, who would then move the team to a market that actually cares. She doesn’t care about either professional team she owns, so Pelicans and Saints fans will continue down that lonely dark road for the foreseeable future. The Saints aren’t going anywhere, but the Pelicans could disappear and the truth is not enough people would care.

you expect a market to actually care when we’ve had a crappy team for so long?

Wizards are crappy too but no one asks if the D.C. market actually cares

The Pels don't suck because their logo is a state bird dumbass

Dude I didn’t say they sucked BECAUSE of the branding. I’m saying the branding is just another drop of evidence in the shite bucket that this whole franchise has been run by idiots forever. Dumbass?? I never said it was because of the fricking logo, I just think the branding sucks too.

After the Jazz moved out of NOLA, don't think for a second that the Pelicans couldn't disappear at any time as well.
The same scenario is there- piss poor management, terrible coaching and horrible trades. I never forgot the Gail Goodrich signing that cost us two first round picks to the Lakers, the first of which was Magic Johnson! The Jazz franchise never recovered and made the move to Utah quite easy...

+1

The majority of NOLA wouldn’t bat an eye.

Pels might not be long for the city of New Orleans. They’re in irrelevant territory unless Zion can save them. Bad ownership. Bad arena. Bad team. That’s a bad combination.

I still to this day don’t understand how krewe wasn’t chosen as the mascot. Your sideline mascot would be a mardi gras jester and your colors would be mardi gras colors.

I think that’s worse than Pelicans. People outside of Louisiana aren’t familiar with its significance.

I actually thought there original name, Jazz, was stupid. They lost that franchise to Utah.

This is their second go round. From what I heard, the nba already stepped in to keep them here when they were the hornets.

And I believe you can watch them on fubotv. Or probably the peacock app

A few years ago they were on the cusp of relevance when they had the second best record in the West. Then Zion got hurt and sat out the remainder of the year. It seems like the team NEVER recovered....and they had the lineup to make it at least to the 2nd round at the very least

D.C. is a much larger metro area with lots and lots of $$$$ in salaries paid (most of the time) by the Federal Government. What else are you going to do in D.C. in January through early April?

To squander 2 "generational" talent No 1 draft picks within a 10 year stretch is impressive

Although, a lot of that was bad luck, but still - look at what San Antonio and OKC did with their high picks ...
