In celebration of their first game in Oakland 50 years ago, the A's gave away 200,000 free tickets. They were expecting 70,000 to show up.

Announced attendance: 46,028

a solid crowd no doubt. But they fell 24,000 shy of their own expectations.

Dude, I had to read to make sure you didn't put an extra "0" in 200,000. That's pathetic.

If they don’t get a new stadium approved they’re gone.

Thing is they could spend more money than they do. But they have shitty ownership and it seems like he doesn’t even give a frick. The A’s used to have a solid fan base but they, like ownership and even Billy Beane at this point, just seemingly don’t care

They are actually working hard to get a new stadium built with private money.

Seems like I remember seeing something in the last year where it looked like they were going to be in Oakland long term but who knows I could be completely making that up

That ballpark actually wasn’t such an eyesore before before they added Mt Davis to it.

They had some land deal with the city for a new stadium that I think fell through

If they get a new stadium built in a good location, make a little money and start keeping a few of the stars that come out of there then they could be relevant again.

Why would people suddenly show up Bc of a new stadium?

Is parking typically $30 for home games in other markets? That sounds really steep to me.

The A's owner is such a cheapskate.

They made more money by giving tickets away.

Yet with the Raiders moving to Vegas and the Warriors heading back across the Bay to San Francisco, they could redo what they have and make it a place to visit.

They could dump all of Mount Davis and whatever that is in center field. Leave the foul territory that resembles a small ranch--every stadium has its quirks and that's theirs.

Here is a picture of an A's vs Astros game I went to last year. I got front row by Astros bullpen for $3 about 30 minutes before the game.

Look at that crowd. Place really is a dump.

this almost seems like a deliberate attempt by management to show Oakland/the fans that even when they give tickets away people don't come so they have to leave
