Both teams should get the ball once. If the first team on offense score a TD then the other get one chance to answer. If they score a TD they can either kick the extra point for a tie or they can go for 2 for the win. The team that scores the first TD could go for 2 to at least guarantee themselves a tie. Would make for some interesting strategy.
If no one scores they play until the OT clock runs out.

The current OT still leaves too much value in winning a coin toss. That seems wrong to me.
Y'alls outrage over this shite is crazy.

Play 15 minute quarters till someone is ahead at the end. No ties.
War of attrition.
War of attrition.

So why can’t the other team have a chance to shove it down the other teams throat for 10 plays? I will hang up and listen
Because they already had 60 minutes to do so

I've had the same sentiments for years.I've always felt like following college football rules but for one distinction. That being, instead of starting from the opponents Twenty Five yard line, start from the Fifty. Then figure out a winner instead of a tie., with the same over time rules as college til you have a winner.

Yeah you pretty much nailed what I said. Instead of the twenty five yard line, start from the Fifty.

They didn’t earn the chance. Defense matters. Sorry.
No, they didn’t win a coin toss. The rams were moving the ball at will towards the end. If they get the ball first, they could have easily done what the Lions did.
The rule is stupid.

When will they ever get it right?
The original old school way of Sudden Death in a 15 minute single quarter after a coin flip with a real kickoff and not the new craziness was the way.
Both teams have 4 quarters to prove dominance. If tied by then the difference is simply whoever has the ball last anyway.

They should abandon the coin flip and have a scrum, a tip off, and face off… something where the flip of a fricking coin doesn’t give one team an extreme edge.

Tim tebow broke the NFL ot rules

My idea for OT:
A coin flip decides who gets the ball. If it’s heads Team A gets the ball if it’s tails Team B gets the ball - the teams don’t choose if they want to go on offense or defense.
Team on offense starts at their own 20 yard line and must score to win the game (FG or TD). No going for it on 4th down on the offense’s own side of the field - if it’s 4th down on your own side of the field you can try to make a field goal, but you can’t try to make a first down. If the offense doesn’t score then they lose.

Sorry homie both teams need to get the ball in OT.
In baseball both teams bat in extra innings
This is the way.
Each team gets a possession, most points win
Sudden death if it ends up in a tie

I had the Lions (-5), so I’m quite happy with the OT rules right now, thank you very much
