I hate team nicknames that don’t end in “s”.

Hope New Iberia Haircut is the official team haircut

Kingfish was a great name

And the bridge should have bumper to bumper 18 wheelers

Which is why I think it should have been the BR Traffic instead.

Could have named them the Canes

A. Ties into the history of sugar production in Louisiana

B. Hockey sticks kind of look like canes

C. Shameless nod to the most famous thing to come out of BR (and the arena they’ll play in)

All reasonable grounds for such a name. However, they may not have wanted to (or could give the impression of) being affiliated with the NHL Carolina Hurricanes. I would think Capitals would have been an apropos name. But you run into the same issue with the Washington Capitals.

Hell, just call them the Red Sticks. It relates to BR and hockey (sticks). Pretty easy association

With that Logo the team should be named the "Traffic Delays".
