Kind of like UGA and Bama did last night, no?

Come on, DB. You know you gotta give me a point for that one

You'll come around.

Took Wolfhound and NT a little bit, too.

Bama and Georgia are the two best teams in the country. There is no debating this. Playoff got it right.

Best and most deserving are two different things.

I think the two most deserving teams should go.
You have to look at the schedule and how they did

In another year are you going to give a pass to a top team who sleeps through a trap game and loses because they are the best team? No you punish them for not winning the games they played.

By putting Bama in the playoffs you have decided all that matters is who the committee thinks is the best regardless of the schedule and games they play.

I was foolish enough to think the decisive win would shut down most of the complaints about Bama getting in. Not in MSB land.

Me too man. And I was no fan of Bama getting in.

They deserve to play for the ship. They beat the #1 team in the country and the defending natty champ. They lost to the same team UGA lost to.

Maybe the system isn’t ideal, but it got it right.

Namaste.

Come home.

Your jar awaits. I'll even put a scarlet bow on it. Just for you.

Naw. 4 teams is plenty

Dont water down the importance of regular season more

Just get rid of committee and use old BCS formula.

Unless you have some ideas for standardization...
I have ideas for it but they're a pipe dream for now.

I think first and foremost, the friggin NCAA has to tell about 40 D1 teams to get the frick out of the pool.

There are NOT really ~120 D1 teams. The actual number of D1 teams should be no greater than 80 and even that's too many. But, it would be better.

Then, you simply need to have 6 conferences that EVERY team is part of. You want to be independent? Great. Enjoy the lower division.

Would all the conferences be equal? Well of course not. But, they'd be a lot less ridiculously unequal.

And, again to glance at the NFL. Not all of their divisions are equal in any given year. Some variation is acceptable in any system. Especially since "equal" is kind of an eyeball thing anyway.

But, we could ever get to what I described, you'd get 6 reasonably decent representatives. Also, in my view, in such a system, the Conf Championship games effectively become round 1 of the playoffs.

More spots - more teams in competition at end of season, who haven't given up.

Here's the thing. I friggin hate Bama. But, if I'm being honest with myself, I can make a "one of the best 4" argument for them being in.

But, it's a retarded argument because it's COMPLETLEY subjective. I can't "prove" it. I just "think" it.

I can also make a decent argument for why OSU should have been in. But, I hate that argument because for frick's sake, they got blown out by Iowa.

I can also make a decent UCF argument. But, that one sucks too because for Chrissake, the best team they beat all year was Memphis.

Basically, there were AT LEAST 3 teams vying for the 4th spot and even THAT is being charitable because frankly, Clemson wasn't all that this year either.

This year is exhibit A, B and C-Z of why the ONLY reason a committee should exist is to pick a couple of at large teams in a 6 or 8 team field.

My personal preference is to have 6 conferences(hey independents, join or be left out) Play 6 Conference title games. Then pick 2 Wildcards.

But, honestly, I don't think you can get the powers that be to add TWO weeks of football to the system. So, if that's the case then I think you have to simply go six conferences with 6 champs in. 2 get a bye.

Yes, this would result in seemingly lesser teams making it but that's really sort of normal in any sport and, besides, it's completely subjective.

I would rather unequal results in an OBJECTIVE no human error system than unequal results in this silliness.

I'm kind of hoping the powers in all of the NCAA are pissed as frick about an all SEC title game and it becomes the impetus for change.

But, I'm not holding my breath.

i agree completely with this idea ... everything in it ... but you don't need to add two weeks ... you need to add only 1 ... maybe not even that ... reduce the regular season to 11 games ... or even 10 ... say 'frick you' to the bowls ... conference games by the end of the weekend after tgiving ... 8 team bracket before xmas break ... two final games after that ... 8 team bracket is regionally hosted by the higher seed ... would love to see an 8 game playoff ...

If we were to start from scratch... would anyone actually support a bowl system?

Most of these bowl games lose money anyways, or are nothing but tax writeoffs. Look at all the half-empty stadiums.

Get rid of all the bowls and have a 16 team playoff.

This works for EVERY other division of college football.

First and second round games are at home. Bid out a "final four" package. noon and 7 pm games at same site. Losers go home. Winners stick around and play the following saturday.

I actually suspect yes but more as a "bowls for other teams with good seasons" kind of thing. I could deal with that. It's part of college football.

But using the bowls for the playoffs? Silliness. And, you damned sure can't even add ONE more week with that paradigm.

Fans can't fricking travel all over the damned country chasing playoff games.

Higher team needs to be home and let the champ game be the neutral site.

If I'm watching on TV, that's a great idea.

If I'm hoping to attend? LOL. Yeah. How many actual fans you gonna have for that shite?

going to 8 teams wouldn't water down the regular season more, it would actually make it more interesting, as more teams would have the opportunity to get in towards the end of the season

This system is flawed. Blow it up and start over.

How?

How are you going to start over, create a new system, AND keep all of the things about college football that makes it as great as it is?
