Here's the thing. I friggin hate Bama. But, if I'm being honest with myself, I can make a "one of the best 4" argument for them being in.

But, it's a retarded argument because it's COMPLETLEY subjective. I can't "prove" it. I just "think" it.

I can also make a decent argument for why OSU should have been in. But, I hate that argument because for frick's sake, they got blown out by Iowa.

I can also make a decent UCF argument. But, that one sucks too because for Chrissake, the best team they beat all year was Memphis.

Basically, there were AT LEAST 3 teams vying for the 4th spot and even THAT is being charitable because frankly, Clemson wasn't all that this year either.

This year is exhibit A, B and C-Z of why the ONLY reason a committee should exist is to pick a couple of at large teams in a 6 or 8 team field.

My personal preference is to have 6 conferences(hey independents, join or be left out) Play 6 Conference title games. Then pick 2 Wildcards.

But, honestly, I don't think you can get the powers that be to add TWO weeks of football to the system. So, if that's the case then I think you have to simply go six conferences with 6 champs in. 2 get a bye.

Yes, this would result in seemingly lesser teams making it but that's really sort of normal in any sport and, besides, it's completely subjective.

I would rather unequal results in an OBJECTIVE no human error system than unequal results in this silliness.

I'm kind of hoping the powers in all of the NCAA are pissed as frick about an all SEC title game and it becomes the impetus for change.

But, I'm not holding my breath.

Naw. 4 teams is plenty

Dont water down the importance of regular season more

Just get rid of committee and use old BCS formula.

going to 8 teams wouldn't water down the regular season more, it would actually make it more interesting, as more teams would have the opportunity to get in towards the end of the season

Nobody should give a shite about the 4th spot.

Think of it as the old system of picking the two national championship teams but just to be sure no team who has a case of being in the championship game gets left out, they add two more teams.

The 4th place team really doesn’t have an argument for being ranked 1 or 2 and playing in the championship, so the 4th place team should just be thankful they even get a shot.

If you look at it like that, you don’t fall into the trap of feeling sorry for any team who was “left out”.

Yeah. I don't even understand that argument. Hell, the regular season is now, after a few years, PROVABLY insignificant.

Change it to where you fricking actually CAN win your way in like in my OP. Make to where at least 4 of the teams(but preferably 6) are simply IN. No committee. No nothing.

Then, you want a couple of wildcards to reach 8 teams....fine.

How on Earth would that make the regular season LESS significant?

The fundamental problem this year is that if UGA and Bama had been undefeated going into the SECCG, they both could have rested all starters and still gotten in.

That is a flawed system when only 4 of 70 odd teams is getting in and most of the evidence is against teams in the same conference

The regular season already doesn't mean anything. Bama made it in by losing the 1 tough game they had and resting when everyone else was playing a tough opponent.

Everyone went and added a conference CG, but they serve no purpose.

Actually making it to that game and losing is worse than not making it to the game at all.

Which is why you need to eliminate divisions and have the best two teams play in each conference championship games.

Hell. If you are a team that is having a great year that puts you in the playoff hunt, the order of preference is

1. Don't make CCG
2. Make it and win
3. Make it and lose.

If you can get in without playing the game, that's one less game for injuries to happen. One more game for nagging shite to get well. One more week of practice.

I mean, there's literally no fricking downside to being the team that's probably in that doesn't make the title game. You don't REALLY give a frick about seeding.

That doesn't solve shite.

What AU beats Bame in the last game of the season for Bama's first loss?

Then they have to play Bama again the following week? Or vice versa?

Bama and Georgia are the two best teams in the country. There is no debating this. Playoff got it right.

I like the pageantry and subjectivity of college football sometimes.

No fan in the world is as insecure as a Gump, and we don't get to experience that if we take away subjectivity.

I suppose it's about time we fix the way college football determines its champion, though.
