stumbling block to OU/TX joining the Big 10 is travel. It would kill the budgets of the other Big 10's not named Ohio and Michigan.

Its the reason OU/ TX to PAC would never work. Sounds great on paper but cost would be too much.

How quaint

Wood......if I was the SEC.

Texas is a conference killer and doesn’t the SEC have an agreement that it won’t add new members in states with existing teams?

SECW would be crazy difficult though.

Either move Auburn and Bama to the east or switch to a scheduling pod. Have 4 pods of 4 teams that play each other every year to maintain rivalries and then have teams play 5 other conference games. The top two teams in the conference play in the SECCG.

The fix for conference travel costs is eventually gonna be FB/BB in different conferences than other sports.

As a Texas grad I'm not thrilled about this. UT has changed a lot since I graduated in the 90s. Was liberal then...now thinks it's Cal Berkeley.

Rest assured Texas IS leaving the Big 12. I know a few birdies in ATX and they would actually prefer the Big 10 because of culture and academics.

But...Texas is leaving as soon as legally possible, and the Big 10 and SEC are the only 2 possibilities.

PAC 12 snobs say no to OU and travel doesn't work.

Add the SEC brand to UT and it definitely helps their recruiting. Being on tv in SEC games every week beats the hell out of TLN for recruits.

Good point. I thought about that after seeing your initial response and being able to sell playing against better/ traditional college programs as a selling point.

But even Mack Brown got whatever recruits he wanted in Texas he was just horrible/ lazy in talent evaluation.

It doesn't matter how much sexual abuse occurs, the Big10 will always feel that it's superior b/c of it's academic prestige.

This all makes for entertaining threads, but I highly doubt this ever happens. The SEC is not going to put up with Texas' bullshite

Don’t forget that Michigan doesn’t pay players under the table

It seems very likely to happen at this point in my opinion

after reading Texags, I'm convinced this was just a publicity stunt by UT/OU to undermine Jimbo's presser at SEC media days

Texags, not unlike TD, is full of Qposting and is out in full force right now

lol

That’s what I’m sure everyone there hopes, because this is objectively bad for our football program. And so they’re coming up with stuff as to why it won’t. Putting everything together though it seems like this is very possible.

I think when it's all said and done, Texas/OU will ultimately end up with the pac 12. I don't see the SEC schools bending over backwards to please Texas. The Pac, otoh, will likely bend over and give them anything they want.

I just think there’s more money at stake for all parties in the SEC. I would much rather see them in the PAC, can’t think of a better outcome selfishly for A&M

The best outcome from this is we might get 10 conference games, 9 for sure. I love that

it would be better for the sport as a whole for them to go to the pac 12, but it looks like them joining the SEC is inevitable at this point.
