Could we quit prosecuting “illegal poker games” please? frick

So if Chauncey owes the mafia money he can't pay back, what do you think happens? Hint - nothing good.

Why are people still playing illegal poker games when legal games are readily available?

So this is the second time (at least) in my lifetime that we confirmation that the NBA is rigged.
This sounds like the worst of the BC points shaving and Referee gambling scandals combined. I think this undoes everything Magic/Jordan/Bird built. It's back to battling the NHL for a distant 3rd.

I'm thankful this didn't reach the NFL. I'm sure part of what insulates them is having only 17 games where none are disposable. I have no doubt that the mafia has (or will) try their best.

The guy to the left , with the big ears & light blue tie, looks scared. Didn't they say he was one of the prosecutors?

"The sportsbooks themselves were victims of this scheme."

Which begs the question - was he coerce in doing this from other "trivial" things from the past he couldn't escape. Some posters just think this is a waste of time but they never see big picture.

Re the amount of money players earn/ed, that is not really relevant. There have been numerous reports over the years that many pro athletes, all sports, are bankrupt shortly after leaving their leagues. Thousands spent in monthly child support payments, players owning 10-15 fancy cars, huge mansions, horrible property investments, large numbers of "posse" followers-on, etc.

You’re a fool if you think this isn’t happening all over every league. A pure fool. Ask Ohtani

No way the mob was paying enough to make this even worth doing. These NBA guys make some bank.
