Shhhh. This goes against the retarded narrative that Romo was what was holding those shitty cowboy teams back.

I get other fan bases spewing this garbage narrative but I felt bad for Romo when the Cowboys fans themselves started to believe it too. Romo was as good as they come when it came to passing in the fourth quarter.

Romo with TO was still a young QB.

Romo today is something like a 10-15 year vet.

It's almost like that's why some wise offensive coordinators choose to call plays from the booth.

He also had to rely on ten other dudes doing their job correctly. And those Dallas teams weren’t all that good.

Romo doesnt really even read defenses, he focuses a lot more on the offensive side of the ball.

He can tell us where the ball is going because he reads the defense and knows where it shouldn’t go.

Every time the qb audibles, it’s easy for him to predict the play, because he just goes opposite of what the defense is setup to stop.

Perfect example was Brady audibling on the 4th and short when KC sold out to stop the sneak.

The Onion joked about this last week.

Tony Romo Realizes He Should Have Used Ability To Read Defenses Back When He Was Still Playing

ATLANTA—Admitting that relying on the skill set was fairly obvious in hindsight, CBS commentator Tony Romo realized Friday that he probably should have used his ability to read defenses back when he was still playing. “Aw, jeez, you know, being able to determine whether the secondary was staying in man or dropping into zone would have been super helpful back when I was under center,” said Romo, who acknowledged for the first time that his aptitude for identifying blitz packages and dissecting coverage schemes would likely have improved his play at quarterback. “Honestly, it’s kind of a shame I didn’t take the things I learned from watching all those hours of tape and apply them to the actual games—because it turns out, knowing exactly what the other team is going to do is a pretty big advantage. Gosh, I probably could have even avoided a bunch of those sacks and injuries that forced me into early retirement.” Romo added that in retrospect, it easily could have been him catching Patriots cornerback Jason McCourty without safety help over-the-top on the second play from scrimmage next week.

And I think that’s what makes him great in the booth as opposed to what he did on the football field
He threw for 35000 yards and 250 TDs in basically 9 seasons. If Owens thinks Romo was bad, there are A LOT of bad QBs.

quote:

“He had situations where he always threw interceptions late in the games. So again, it’s about decision making, it’s about how accurate and where you throw the ball.”
Romo has the 2nd highest rating in the 4th quarter of any QB that has ever played NFL football.

Amazes me how people overlook this constantly. Dallas' season was instantly over if Romo got hurt 95% of his career. Romo didn't play on those god awful defenses.

That's why he was top 5 in game winnid drives and fourth quarter comebacks while during his years in the league

Looks like T.O could be right or wrong depending on how you look at Romo’s stats:

The Two Faces of Romo

quote:

It seems like Tony Romo is always struggling late in games, but is that what defines him as a QB?

Tony Romo became the 15th player in NFL history to throw for 500 yards in a game on Sunday, breaking Don Meredith's Cowboys record for a single game. However, a fourth-quarter interception set the Broncos up to pull out an epic 51-48 win.

quote:

So, who is the real Cowboys quarterback – Dr. Romo or the Romo-coaster?

quote:

Dr. Romo

Despite the late mistake Sunday, Romo had arguably the best game by a quarterback in a loss this season. No quarterback has posted a higher QBR in a defeat this season than his 92.1 yesterday.

Since he entered the league, Romo has consistently put up some of the best numbers in the NFL.

Romo has 19 game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime, tied for fifth-most since he took over the starting job in 2006. He has a career 68.7 QBR in the 4th quarter - only Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers are better since 2006.

Highest QBR in fourth Quarter - Since 2006
This season, Romo is second in the NFL with 13 touchdown passes. And only Peyton Manning has fewer interceptions among quarterbacks with at least 30 pass attempts per.

quote:

Romo-coaster

Despite his overall success, the other side of the coin for Dr. Romo is that sickening feeling he often leaves Cowboys fans late in games – something we’ll refer to as the Romo-coaster.

Romo's lone interception Sunday was the 23rd fourth-quarter interception of his career. The Cowboys have lost the last eight games in which Romo has thrown a fourth-quarter interception, with six of those losses coming by seven points or fewer.

quote:

Since 2010, Romo's Total QBR in the first 12 minutes of the fourth quarter/OT is 80. That's second-best in the NFL behind Peyton Manning. However, his QBR drops to a below-average 44 in the game's final three minutes.

quote:

And he's not only making these mistakes as the Cowboys attempt to rally from late deficits. Eight of Romo's fourth-quarter interceptions have come with the Cowboys tied or leading by one score - that's the most in the NFL in that span.

Blaming the QB for a loss when the offense scores 48 points is absolutely retarded.

T.O. and his sour grapes, if only he had the right attitude, maybe he would have a few Super bowl rings.

Is TO schizophrenic? He cried about the media criticizing Romo, criticizes Romo. Not sure if TO is all there. But he's always been a Grade A attention whore.
