quote:If Tx St left today? I don't agree with that. I think stAte, ULM, Louisiana, and USM are a Yes in the West. I think Marshall, ODU, and in turn JMU are a Yes in the East. I think Coastal, App, GA Sou, and Ga St are maybes. I think the only No is Troy and USA. The Carolina and Georgia schools would most likely to differ to what the West wants if ECU says No thanks (which given the money they would lose seems like a pretty definite No). I think Troy and USA are No's not because of LTU per se, but because it's a team West of the Mississippi which puts them in the middle where future addition or subtraction may force them Eastward. Both of those schools would prefer WKU if ECU says No because that's another degree of separation from going Eastward in the future.
The two Louisiana SBC schools would vote yes for LaTech. The rest of the west would vote no. The SBC east programs would likely vote no as well.

Pete Thamel wouldn't have put Tech in his story on ESPN if that were the case. He isn't Matt Brown of extra points throwing anything he gets his hands on against the wall.

quote:I think if you're the SBC adding LTU or WKU in the short term to keep divisions is a solid move. If the collapse is imminent then you wait because teams in the AAC will get left behind and depending on the breakdown, then you consolidate and teams like Kennesaw, FIU, NMSU, and ULM are probably the ones left without a home after the SBC, CUSA, and AAC leftovers form an East and West conference.
The easternmost teams in C-USA and the SBC should form one conference, and the western teams another.

What the hell would ECU step down from AAC to the Belch? Lol

Are they going to have to rebrand back to Memphis State to fit in with the rest of the Pac Schools?

Might as well, basketball team wears Memphis State shite half of the time anyways

Sunbelt truly is the best G5 conference
By a wide margin. It feels like a triple A for the SEC. Love the regionalism and the rivalries that brings.
LA Tech vs Louisiana on a Thursday night not move the needle nationally but the folks who prefer CFB would watch this over the nfl Thursday game. North LA vs South LA. The two biggest fan bases in Louisiana aside from LSU. It would be nice. LTU has decent representation across the state as does UL. Lot better history within each program than ULM also.
Sorry ULM but this move really bumps you down even more. Honestly a move to the C USA might be a good option for ULM if LTU joins the SBC. I could see ULM having more success in the. C USA
Liberty wouldn’t leave their cupcake schedule to join the SBC where they would lose 2 or 3 games every season easily.

No way Monroe votes yes for La Tech to join. Feels like A&M and UT SBC version.

Ok…again, why would ECU step down to the Sun Belt?

Monroe would 100% vote yes for Tech to join.
Guaranteed sell out every two years and will bring back some of the NLU people (although they're on the verge of getting old)

Every charter member of SBC football, with UL & ULM being the exceptions, would vote no. That’s Ark St, Troy and USA. USM is a 50/50 vote.
In the SBC East only Marshall would be in favor of LaTech. The rest of the east would be a no. The east will push for WKU.

...um... do you catch alot of ULM games?

Typically I’d agree with you but I legit think this one would be a sellout, at least for the first few games.

Might not want to look at who all of techs highest attended games are against.

I'm sure attendance is better against Tech, just doubting they go from 3k to 30k because Tech becomes a conference opponent

We haven’t played tech in 25 years and we’re 20 minutes away from each other. At minimum the first game would be a sellout.

Had 28k vs grambling in 2019. Would 100% be a sellout
