Can you imagine if any of these 18 - 20 year old high level athletes wound up with a fever? Not to mention the loss of smell. The NCAA really had no choice but to cancel this game, think of the liability...

Devil’s advocate POV-

While I’m sure none of these kids will die if they catch covid, what happens if they play the game and one of the other kids on vcu has Covid and passes it to an Oregon player. What happens next game if there are multiple infections?

Was wondering if this was going to happen. Wouldn't be surprised to see at least one more team either forfeiting or being damn close to min players needed to compete.

March 2020 we knew virtually nothing about this virus. Virtually any defensive action taken then was defensible on that basis

I know I'm speaking from hindsight. I get why it happened last year but knowing what we know now it would've been fine. To do it now in 2021 is asinine and pointless.

For what it’s worth, they had multiple positive tests among players apparently.

Teams are allowed to play with 5 healthy players. Apparently VCU couldn’t get 5 cleared.

I don't like it,

but at least this is more understandable than some dumb contact tracing nonsense. I won't lose my mind if this is the case.

See kids, I didn’t get to ply in the tournament because my selfish teammate put pussy ahead of the team.

What’s your point?

What happens is that a few college basketball players will come down with runny noses and then will feel fine in two days.

If that. The most destructive virus in the history of america and it's possible to not even know you have it or display any symptoms lol.

There’s more than just 18-21 year old players. Coaches, refs, stadium staff, etc.

If you haven’t been paying attention the last year, all the measures put in place everywhere are about slowing/stopping the spread, without regard for the specific individual risk.

If you haven’t been paying attention this past year, unless you are 70+ or a morbidly obese fatass , Covid is basically harmless.

It’s all about virtual signaling. These players literally run around a court sweating on each other, then are forced to sit far apart wearing masks. All after testing negative for the virus too.

I don’t believe that as they would have been disqualified yesterday not just before game time

Also you couldn’t enter the hotel with any positives. They’ve been there and tested multiple times

Last team VCU played was St. Bonaventure last Sunday.

What happens to LSU if Bonnie's players test positive after their game earlier today?

I don't understand the ncaa and not paying for a bunch vaccines and giving them to athletes ahead of states.

Could be a win win also publicly as well with athletes.

To avoid situations like this

bullshite.

12 players on the Saint Louis roster tested positive for COVID and had to go on a 5 week pause which effectively ended their season. Turn off FOX News and OANN. This is real.
