VCU got Waffle Hioused. Scattered, smothered and COVID. PAC-12 is now 5-0 in the tourney.

As someone who had Covid, I can say this with 100% certainty and confidence, it is an absolute fricking joke that they are making college athletes forfeit a basketball game because one kid tested positive for the flu.

Bigger question is how did someone test positive in the bubble at this point?

Yeah it's a joke to just move a team on in the 1st round. Get Ole Miss up there and play tomorrow.

In a later round there's not much you can do but their tournament hasn't even started yet.

It has ,ole miss lost to Louisiana tech

As an infectious disease physician who is on the policy board of a large metro hospital (not to toot my horn, simply to attempt to validate my opinion) this is bullshite.

There is no reason to do this to a team of 18-23 year olds. NONE. The data is definitive at this point. And I’m hardly some right wing ideologue. This is objectively nonsense.

Well. Prolly yea. But it’s likely more about liability issues on the 1% chance something does happen, which is why there was still masks and distancing in the building.

Per
@PointsBetUSA in wake of VCU-ORE canceled due to VCU COVID issues: All game-related bets are a refund. If you have a VCU futures bet — to win championship, reach Final Four, Sweet 16 etc. — that’s a loss.

The left only cares about optics. Now they can say they care about the kids and are all about health and keeping people safe dUrInG A pAnDeMiC.

We could've had a tournament in 2020 and the worst that would happen to any player is a week in bed

We don’t address any other issue in society this way. Not a single one. NOTHING operates on the basis of a <1% probability of a bad outcome. I prescribed antibiotics every day that carry a higher likelihood of negative outcomes. Every time a surgeon goes to the OR he takes with him more risk than that. Every time you take a three hour drive to a football game on a Saturday you assume more risk than that.

In March 2020 we knew virtually nothing about this virus. Virtually any defensive action taken then was defensible on that basis.

In March 2021? The data is in. The facts are established.

Yea well. shite loads of money and youth are involved in this.

I don’t agree that Oregon just gets to advance (one of the round of 4 losers should at least slot in), but this is what gets us a tourney right now over no tourney.

Sure, but the point is it shouldn’t be that way. Just as it should be that millions of kids still can’t go to school because opportunists and cowards dictate policy.

For what it’s worth, they had multiple positive tests among players apparently.

Teams are allowed to play with 5 healthy players. Apparently VCU couldn’t get 5 cleared.
