AD has 8 seasons to not win a championship. I think he can do it.

LOL you're an idiot, CP3 is one of the best players in the game right now. I guess it's not a lock that you keep him (obviously), but how do you know AD is gonna stay past his contract?

I'm an idiot for not picking someone who can't get past the 2nd round, because the other guy might not stay passed his contract? So Tracey McGrady > Lebron?

Dude have you watched CP3 play, he's one of the best players in the game. No he hasn't gotten past the second round but it's not his fault. He almost beat the Lakers by himself a few years ago, he is generally AWESOME in the playoffs.

AD's team this year sucks dick, he's never even made the playoffs, why are you knocking CP3 for getting in with ok teams and bringing them as far as they can when AD has never played a playoff game.

Just for perspective on AD's PER, here's some all time greats and their Rookie PER's, and remember that many of these guys were several years older than AD as a rookie:

Kareem: 22.5, Barkley 18.5, Wilt 28.0, Duncan 22.6, Ewing 17.4, Garnett 15.8, Dwight Howard 17.2, Malone 13.7, Shaq 22.9, Hakeem 21.1, Bill Russel 20.9.

AD's 21.5 looks pretty freaking great in that company.

However, I'd still take CP just because I already know for sure what he's going to be. But I don't think its a ridiculous argument at all.

Being a that a young Chris Paul, with atleast 2 other all-stars, couldn't get past the 2nd round I think you're dumb if you would pick him.

That team with Pargo playing a big role almost made the conference finals.

Because if I'm starting a franchise I want to win a title not just make the playoffs. CP is a great point guard wish he was still in NOLA, but I'm going not going to take a PG to build a franchise around when I can get a big man.

Ok how about the Spurs, Tony Parker isn't a great PG?

Everyone says AD has Tim Duncan potential, well I can use some people's terrible logic and say he would can't win a championship by himself. He's always either had another Big man to take pressure off or a great PG in Tony Parker!!!!!111!!!11oneoneone!!!

The better argument would be Current Chris Paul or Current Anthony Davis.

A guy like MJ who scores a ton will NEVER lead a team to a title.

You probably either was saying that or would have been if you were old enough at the time.

So Tracey McGrady > Lebron?
How in the world do you get to that spot from what he said?

That Paul team lost to the Spurs, ya know, the team who has won 4 titles and been rather dominant for about 12 years now? That Spurs team was better than the Hornets.

I don't think people realize how good Davis has been. His PER is pretty damn great for a 19-20 year old rookie big man.

This.

For example

19 year old KG vs 19 year old Davis

He's got Blake Griffin in LAC right?

As far as I know. We'll see how Griffin's career evolves and if the Clippers become legit title contenders. They haven't been together long.

There's also a huge distinction between a 6' point guard and Magic Johnson at 6'9"

Instead of saying you don't win championships by building around PGs, its probably more accurate to say that you don't win championships building around the smallest player on the court. Isaiah might be the only exception in the history of the sport.

As much as I love CP, there are just major limitations having a 6' guy carrying your team every game.

Like has alreay been mentioned, there's no reason to really follow the Hornets this year if you aren't a fan, so most people just wouldn't know how awesome Davis has really been. Particularly since he's started to getting starter minutes.

He's averaging around 17/11/2 blks in games where he's played over 30 minutes this year, with a historically high PER. This from a guy who was supposed to be extremely limited offensively for the first few years in his career. He's developed a knock down 12-15 ft jumper with PERFECT form, and still has no post game. He's doing this while being the weakest player in the league at his position and getting out muscled every night. For example, Reggie Evans beat the shite out of him a few weeks ago and Davis still managed to put up 19/11/5blks. He went for 20/18 against Memphis' front line a few weeks ago, then followed that up by going for 18/15 against them a few days ago.

Seems impossible for a 1st overall pick to have a quietly great rookie year, but Davis is doing it.

But he needed an elite big!!!!

Or did the elite big need him?

Billups did it as the best player on his team. The moral of the story, though, is that neither an elite PG nor an elite big can do it by himself.
