The LHSAA removed the Warriors from the Class 3A state playoffs due to a game-ending, bench-clearing brawl last week against district rival Bogalusa.

Amite appealed the LHSAA's ruling at 8 a.m. Wednesday to the executive committee and, according to an LHSAA source, the ruling was upheld.

If Lutcher beats West Feliciana, then it's an all-St. James Parish 3A championship game, on the same night as the bonfire festival. Wonder what's gonna become of that.

Move the festival to the next day.

And while actions have consequences, this seems like extreme overkill on behalf of the LHSAA.

And they just made Byrd pay a fine and stay in the playoffs.

No, the brawling crap has been escalating dramatically the last couple of years - bout time they lowered the boom.

It's HS football - the last pure level of the sport - not the WWE....

Exactly! And the thuggish type behavior at some schools is actually condoned by coaching staffs.

Sad, but true. Overlooked, at least.

This on the coaches and the staff at Amite.

You tell your kids not leave the bench if there's a fight. Now the whole season is dfl'd.

The school board appeal won't win the emergency hearing either. They're done.

Suck it up.

They should have consulted RMC, he could have told them how to get an expelled team back in the playoffs.

As AboveGroundPool said, Lutcher has been in the dome when the festival was going on more than once. And Lutcher is the side of the river that the festival is held on. Only thing that happens is that there is not as many people at the festival that night. I'm pretty sure the festival is not a one night thing.

It would be great to have an all St. James Parish final. Lutcher beat St. James handily in the regular season but they didn't have their stud QB who is back now. Should be a good game. The long time Lutcher Offensive Coordinator is now the head coach at St. James and definitely has that program headed in the right direction.

St. James oughta wipe the floor with Lutcher. Lutcher damn near got beat by Kaplan, and should have been beat. If they play that kind of undisciplined ball again, they will lose.
