Do the LIV players care about staying competitive though?

I think joining LIV is a pretty obvious tell that they don’t care that much about maximizing their talents. That’s their prerogative, but they definitely aren’t doing it to test themselves competitively.

As a human sure, as a pro athlete not really. Especially the way he plays. He’s a huge crowd draw for sure and a big get for LIV

The sky is still falling I see. LIV is offering free agency and the cream of the golfing crop and others who see the future of golf differently now have a choice. For the first time.
That's pretty much what Brooks had to say in his interview recently. It's about choices and as true independent contractors, they want the freedom to choose when and where, and how much. These guys are still trying to get to where baseball, football, and basketball have been for almost 50 years.
Yeah, many more will be jumping ship for that privilege.

After seeing the LIV promo video about "the future of golf" ... Where it was part Burning Man, part elementary school field day, and part golf...I figured that it was only a matter of time for Brooks.
Would be ironic if he took his brothers spot in the 48
I do wonder though.. How much practice are Dustin Brooks going put in...make bank just for showing up so why practice for hours?... But having August off means lots of Instagram opportunities

Football, baseball, and basketball players also get told when to play, when to practice, etc
Golfers don’t want that, at all. They just want more money for less work plain and simple, and by the grace of Mohammed the Saudis have allowed that to happen for them

This is all fine and dandy, but if you take less swings in competitive events (which you will if you play less tournaments and those tournaments are 54 holes), you are unlikely to maintain your peak level of play.

I’m sure he’ll be a sanctimonious douche about it
Considering his responses when asked during the US Open, he already has been. Not a great look for him, not that he really cares about his image anyways.

Don't know why anybody is cheering on LIV
I don’t think people would have if the PGA had not gone all in with their sanctimonious hypocritical bullshite.
Guys like Chamblee and Lynch with their daily hit pieces and character assaults are doing nothing but swaying public opinion in the other direction.

Have you noticed that LIV has a distinct schedule too? You might as well be the captain of the Titanic on this one.

They are still well over a year away from being full speed on their own tour schedule. Things change and tournaments will grow. A lot of tweaking between now and then.

might as well as it appears he is done winning on the PGA tour.
No fricks given. He won big on PGA, secured hot wife, and now will make 100-200M in 2 years and earn back his card if ever needed.
Let the PGA wheel Tiger around in a wheelchair for ratings.
Look, I get both sides of the argument, and I hate the ragheads, but be real. These guys are getting tens and hundreds of millions to PLAY GOLF 3 days a week.
Money that would take them 10+ years to make in tour IF they won every tourney basically.
And don't fool yourself, the endorsement issue will work out and they'll bank on that too

Are the PGA media members and those behind the PGA obnoxious as hell and fake? Absolutely, no doubt
But the people behind LIV are absolute pieces of shite too
The leadership and muscle behind both leagues suck. One is annoying white liberal hypocrites, and the other are murderous Muslims
Choosing your allegiance based on “I don’t like the people behind the PGA” seems so strange

No Laying Up is reporting Morikawa rumors are “categorically false” and that is from Colin’s camp.

Sure, but playing less has been a key part of their pitch to players. I think we can count on that not fundamentally changing.

At the end of the day playing golf is these guys job just like us normal people have a job. Nobody on this board is passing up 100 million to go work for another company.
