That was pretty amazing. No longer just a layup league. Next thing you know they will be wanting to have a womens professional basketball league. Maybe a women's NBA or something. You never know.

If she’s 6’1” then I am impressed. And women’s basketball is still without a doubt the hardest sport to watch.

I'm also a white guy who knows his limitations. There's a reason why I never tried my hand at basketball when I was a teenager. I can't shoot, can't jump, and have lousy hand-eye coordination. Fun fact, I can't even touch my toes. Baseball, track, and football were my three sports growing up - with some soccer sprinkled in until I turned 11 or 12.

The average height of a human male is 5'7".

I'm 6'4" and have never dunked on a 10 foot goal. Never was quite able to palm a regulation ball.

I also never really practiced. If I had had a gym or court nearby and hours to practice, I could have eventually done it.

The athleticism it takes to play basketball above a high school level is extremely underrated.

[quote]She hasn't done it in a game, but Nancy Mulkey, (a coworkers's daughter) the Rice center, can dunk. She blocks shots like crazy. She's 6'9". Her whole family is that tall.
Women sports mostly suck.

Lower the rim to 9’ for women. I’ve said it on this board as much as I can stand to post in women’s basketball threads. Genetics don’t allow women to grow as tall or develop muscles to jump as high as men.

This is actually pretty impressive.

She’s only 6’1” compared to Griner who is 6’8”.

Dunking a 6’8” starts to get less impressive

That looks about as exciting as a 14-year-old on the ninth grade team dunking a basketball. Nobody wants to see that sh!t.

When I was in pep band at Alabama Candace Parker missed a dunk on a fast break after a steal. I kinda wish she had made it but getting to see the Pat Summit stare down was pretty cool too I guess. Of course Bama turned it over on their next posession and she had another fast break but went for the layup instead.

I'm 6'5" and I hurt myself grabbing the rim. I think I managed to dunk once when I was 18 or 19. Needless to say, I never played basketball.

many sports accommodate women. Golf pushes the tees up, volleyball lowers the net. Basketball played above the rim is a far more exciting sport to watch. Try it for one season I bet, even if its just out of short lived curiosity, viewership will increase.

I could dunk at 15. I was about 5'9 then. I put on 80lbs my first year at LSU and tore my ankle a few times. Couldn't dunk anymore around 21 or so. Stopping trying and doubt I could ever do it again now. Just not a big deal for a teenage guy that plays often..
