So 124 teams in college football played last week and only 2 had zero penalties

According to ESPN team stats. University of New Mexico and Alabama
Now I'll start with this, Alabama right now has the greatest college football team of all time. All bias aside, I don't know anyone in history that could play with these guys right now considering Tua stays healthy. So I'm not saying help from the refs is why they're this good.
Saying that, Nick Saban with the Miami Dolphins was dead last in the NFL in penalties and still holds the franchise record in one game with 18 penalties.
Miami Dolphins Link
When at LSU during the 03 National Championship season, LSU was 87th in the nation in penalties. For a guy that continues to put players back in games after swinging helmets at coaches, throwing multiple haymakers at players on the ground this seems overly ridiculous.

Alabama is GOAT and I'll fight anyone who says otherwise. They could legit stay within 20 of Oakland. Nothing but NFL talent that runs 2 deep at literally every position but K.

This is really stupid but it's a really strange phenomenon how almost everything breaks Bama's way.

playing penalty free... so easy a 3-7 team can do it

Maybe at LSU Saban couldn’t be picky about who he played. The best athletes got to play whether or not they were smart players. He may now be in a position at Alabama where he either has been able to recruit a team full of players who are both physical freaks and smart, or is simply able to play his smarter players over his dumber players because the difference in physical talent isn’t big enough to warrant playing the dumber player.
Also, penalties are often committed to make up for talent disparity or disparity in preparation, like when an offensive lineman has to hold a defensive lineman because the OL simply can’t block him, or when an offensive linemen has to grab a blitzer because the offense wasn’t ready for it. Saban’s team almost always has the advantage in talent and preparation, it appears.

It would be nice if you used more than two years in your study

Only take away from the alabama and Mississippi State was that state got robbed of a touchdown. Score should have been 24-7 but who cares unless you were betting the game.

What is your point? Did you read my post? I completely agree and I said it in the OP.

If were I were a Bama fan, this is the exact same comeback I would use. Fair enough.

One thing I’d be interested to see, but I’m too lazy to research at the moment, is how many penalties Alabama has gotten per game with neutral refs in big games compared to SEC refs in big SEC games during Saban’s tenure.
And then also gather data for other elite SEC schools in big games both in and out of the SEC and compare that to Alabama.
If the SEC refs have a pro-Alabama bias, this would be one way to build a case.

It was the year Saban was at LSU and won the National Championship. You can only go back to 15 years in the stats. In 04 LSU was 44th in the country with Saban. His last year.

Can we please keep this garbage on the rant?

I know the year they played Washington in the playoffs they had neutral refs and it was the most penalties they had all year.

Bama always has the refs in their back pocket. Everybody knows this.

For REAL. Especially in games not involving them.

DATE: November 18, 2011
GAME: Oklahoma State at Iowa State
DESC: All LSU fans remember this one. The night LSU was robbed of the greatest season in CFB history. Quinn Sharp's kick was clearly good.
LINK
DATE: November 17, 2012
GAME: Stanford at Oregon
DESC: Zach Ertz TD ruled incomplete on the field gets reviewed. Replay shows no conclusive evidence of TD. Call gets overturned. Game goes to OT, where Oregon loses. Bama jumps back into the top 2.

DATE: December 2, 2017
GAME: Ohio State vs. Wisconsin (Big 10 Championship)
DESC: On this play, 2 Wisconsin WRs get absolutely mauled by 2 Ohio State DBs. Somehow, no flag gets thrown. Wisconsin's loss allows Bama, who got blown out in their final regular season game and missed the SECCG, back into the top 4.
Also in 2011, Boise missed a chipshot against TCU that would've won the game (undefeated Boise possibly would've jumped Bama).
Also in 2012, Kansas State got blown out by Baylor, but Heisman candidate QB Collin Klein was hobbled by a concussion. They get an outrageous number of breaks in games not involving them.
