Serious question for Notre Dame fans

Hypothetical:
You go 11-1, losing to Miami. You then make the playoffs and lose in the first round.
Are you happy with this season?
Is this what Notre Dame football is now? Spend the entire regular season hiding, trying to sneak into an oversized playoff field?
You gonna look back on the 2026 and these big wins against Purdue and Rice fondly?

Shiiiiit. Been overrated and overhyped for decades now (couple years were exceptions though). But hey, they were good when they played with leather helmets

The last time they made the CFP, they were playing in the championship. It's funny how everyone says ND is overrated and they play no one but teams still lose to them in the playoffs. What gives? Shouldn't they be an easy win for anyone in the playoffs?

The playoff run was the first post season success Notre Dame had in 30 years.

No, not really - I don’t think many of us would be happy.
But I don’t think it’d be that we’d be hiding or whatever but more that’d be a waste of Carr and this defense.

ND was in championship game 2 years ago. Lost 2 last year but was a top 10 team. They’ve been mostly solid the last 10 years and clearly a top 10 program now. We also have 3 natties since their last one. Why the irrational takes and envy?

Nothing irrational or envious about what I said. OP asked if they would be fine with a great regular season that ended with no championship. And if that’s what they are “now”. I’m saying that’s what they’ve been since their last NC win

They were good that season, but they didn’t exactly beat a murder’s row of teams to make it to the finals. Georgia with a backup QB and a couple of teams that lost against every good team they played that season.
