I think it’s fair to say they’ve played the easiest 4-game stretch of their schedule, and they’re currently ranked 98th in rushing offense. Wisconsin was the only rushing defense to crack the top 50, and they’re closer to 50 than say…the top 25.
It’s not going to get easier, and if they can’t run the ball, they’re going to get into some heat against Miami and BYU to a lesser degree. It’s just one turnover or flip in field position that can change the game. I just trust Miami to put up 24-28 points agansdt ND, and I don’t trust ND …. right now (things can change)….to match

The inability to run the ball is massively concerning, but it has been better the last two weeks. Moving on from Williams as the lead back has helped. The oline is way too talented to not be pushing people around. I do think Carr has checked into run plays more to try to establish the run. They've also played very conservative since they have had big leads, which has let teams key in on the run.
Gilbert coming on as a solid WR2, and Greathouse flashing again should help spread the field more.

I don't...Toney vs Moore is going to be an amazing matchup though. I just trust ND's front 7 to pressure Mensah into some mistakes and keep him off rhythm enough to stop them.

The running game does concern me a little, but I think that's pretty much the only potential weakness, along with maybe only having 2 reliable pass-catchers at the moment (Faison and Gilbert). In general, I am a little worried about the skill positions.
Overall though, I think Carr is a nearly flawless college QB and I'm more confident in the defense than you are. I think it's elite at all three levels, and they'll have Moore shadow Toney all day, and be able to win most of the other one-on-one matchups elsewhere.

We'll see. Plenty of games in between and who knows what the weather will be. It could be a beautiful fall day, a torrential downpour, or a blizzard by that time.
Do you think they'll put Moore solely on him? I know they'll move Toney around - out wide and in the slot. What's the update on Brontae Johnson? I'm of the opinion that he must be available and play for that game.

Not sure on the Moore or Johnson question, but O'Brien played really well Saturday, although don't necessarily want to rely on a true freshman in that game.

Yes, they didn’t last year and it was a huge mistake. They learned their lesson though and had Moore move to the slot to cover Makai Lemon against USC, and I’m sure they’ll employ a similar strategy against Toney this year.

Nothing is certain, but it sounds like he’ll be back before Miami. And agree that having him would be huge, he didn’t play much against Miami last year, and I think it was a difference-maker.

Lot of truth in that. Love was injured and along with Cross and Mills right?
Yes - Love got his knee banged up (again) against IU. I think he touched the ball 7 times against UGA. Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa (one of the best LBs in college football right now and potential first rounder) was also severely limited - only played about 10 snaps.
We were also missing:
Ben Morrison (CB1 and 2nd round pick for the Bucs - the reason Leonard Moore got to start in the first place)
Rylie Mills (DT1 and 5th round pick for the Seahawks)
Boubacar Traore (DE1 right now and likely 1st or 2nd round pick)
Jason Onye (backup DT who is now starting for us, or was until he got banged up a few weeks ago)
Ashton Craig (starting Center who is still starting with us)
Jordan Botelho (OLB who got a lot of snaps)
Cross actually did play through the playoffs; he was playing on a high ankle sprain but played nonetheless.
The reason we won that game was because a talented but young and patchwork DL dominated UGA's offensive line.

I was saying that Wisconsin will be a better win than anything Alabama has on its resume to date (Kentucky, South Carolina), not that we'll definitely beat Miami.
Running game issue is likely more of a personnel thing than a scheme or blocking issue - starting to see that the last two games with Walton and James taking on a much larger share of the carries; the staff wanted to give Aneyus Williams his chance for sticking it out behind Love and Price. I think that experiment is more or less over. James and especially Walton are better players with a lot more explosiveness and better vision.
I agree to a degree on the receivers. Starting to see a couple of guys emerge, but no one has leaped into the role quite yet.

Notre Dame has played for a national championship more recently than any SEC school, strangling the SEC champ and holding it to 10pts in SEC country en route to the game.
