I think they should change it to Maryland Redskins...they haven't played in Washington in 25 years.

I mean it's quite literally a racial slur against Native Americans. This was bound to happen no reason to melt

The Redskins are trying to build a new stadium. Their options are down to rebuilding where they are now or building on the RFK site. They want the RFK site but DC told them they won’t let them until the name changes.

They’ll probably end up working out a deal where they get to build the stadium at RFK in exchange for changing the name. And Snyder will sell a bunch of new merchandise with a new name. So everyone gets something out of this.

I’m going to laugh when the same people who want the name changed then start griping about public land and money going to the new stadium. Can’t ever please these idiots.

I’d put money on it being the Washington Frederick Doulasses. Definitely going to be something to do with the abolitionist movement. These people are so pathetic.

Actually it was a term used by native Americans to describe and distinguish themselves from the “whiteskins” - Europeans.

Reversional history is dangerous. It is like calling the Cleveland Browns racist.

Can we make the Texans problematic just to get rid of that retarded name?

Every NFL fan puts $20 in a gofundme to Bud Adams to give up the Oilers name, logo, colors, etc.

I hate anybody that bows down to the mob of social justice. Is there any recourse or a way to move to under armor or other brands? frick Nike and all these other corporations pretending to be "woke" for monetary gains.

This is going to kill the franchise. I have been a fan for almost 40 years. You strip away the name, traditions, history and there is literally nothing for fans to hold onto. The team is bad and run horribly. They will lose most of the fanbase. Where are all the new fans going to come from? No one gets a huge boost from re-branding. Snyder should sell now and let new owners make the move..

What about the Chiefs? What about Arrowhead stadium?

We think those are the same thing as the term “Redskins”?

#1 - we should be striving to rewrite the meaning of the term Redskins from a slur to a poorly winning football franchise. That way, we've done something constructive instead of just trying to bury it.

#2 - they should change it to Washington Term Limits because most people like that idea.

I suspect this is the actual reason Snyder has held out for so long.

I am a Redskins fan because of family, but even that connection has barely kept me engaged through the last two decades. Objectively, there is basically zero reason to cheer for the Redskins if you don’t have some preexisting emotional connection to the team. It’s a dysfunctional, losing operation owned by an unlikable shithead. When the team changes, I’m not sure how many fans will hang in there with them.

Since Nike is so committed I'd like to see them take all profits ever earned on a team with a Native American mascot and give those profits to some NA tribes. Redskins, Indians, Chiefs, Braves, Seminoles, etc. For some reason I doubt Nike's guilt is going to reach that far.
