Well, its not like we all knew this wasn't going to happen. Doesn't make it any less shitty though.

Every Ryder Cup, its like our guys play nervous while the Euros play with confidence.

given the gap in talent I will take a 5-3 deficit after day 1. I was worried it was going to be a lot worse than that.

5-3 isn't a disaster, but I think everyone had higher hopes after this morning.

2 points can be made up very quickly. Just get the feeling the Euros settled down and played their game in the afternoon. Their game >> our game.

Sitting Spieth and FMFP was a bad decision. I hope it doesn't cost us.

That's why we were wanting more play from the young guys. They have that energy. Just have to turn them loose.

Fact.

They should have played. No question.

I really thought Watson was going to be a good captain, and then today he went full tard in a few ways:

1. Putting Bubba and Webb out together and first, with no idea how they were going to perform and both not playing well lately.
2. Choosing PHil and Keegan for the afternoon after they played like shite and only won because Rors/Sergio played even more like shite.
3. Furyk and Kuchar? Whose gonna be the emotional leader of that duet of meh?
4. Leaving the hot hands Spieth and Reed on the bench in favor of some of the other pairs.

Dude needs to overhaul his thinking completely...put a steady eddie plodder (the team is loaded with them) out there with a risk-taking birdie machine in the fourball matches, and then take the hot sticks into the afternoon. So tired of seeing us get out-coached every friggin Ryder cup.

What is the format for tomorrow. I hope Capt. Miles rethinks his strategy.

Azinger was a brilliant captain in 2008. We need more like him, because he truly understand the psychology of the event.

We lost that match, and still held a 2.5 - 1.5 lead after the morning matches. Didn't kill us.

So you were in favor of benching the current 4-0 duo from the last two Ryder Cups?

I wasn't a big fan of his selection at first, but he grew on me. Then he went completely against what he'd been saying for 2 years about having the players who were playing the best on the team by picking Webb Simpson. And then he did it again by leaving the two hottest guys on the team, the two who were finally able to shut up Ian Poulter at the Ryder Cup (granted, he's playing like shite), on the bench in the afternoon. When they whipped his arse this morning, I thought that was huge for the American psyche. Then Watson went "full tard" as you said.

I don't understand how he wasn't asked to do it again. I doubt he'd turn it down.

Did you see how they won today? It was obvious that neither was on their game. I think collectively, they made 3 birdies and an eagle.

Also, foursomes =/= fourball. It's bizarre to me that captains keep the teams together for team's sake when they make not work at all in the alternate shot. It's not like these are long-time duos who regularly play as a team. Mixing it up isn't that big of a deal.

I think Phil and Keegan sat during the alternate shot at Medinah on Saturday.

Saturday morning fourballs:

Rose/Stenson vs Bubba/Kuchar
Donaldson/Westwood vs Furyk/Mahan
Bjorn/Kaymer vs Reed/Spieth
McIlroy/Poulter vs Walker/Fowler

Bubba and Kuchar is a good fourball team on paper, but I'm not sure either is in good form right now, and they're playing Europe's best team from today.

Furyk and Mahan?? In a best ball? Seems like that would've been a better 4somes team.

I like Reed and Spieth in match 3 if Watson didn't totally psych them out today by sitting them.

Match 4 should be a good one...Fowler and Walker seem to play well together.

I think we split 2-2 in the morning matches.

I agree...what's the point of matching the 2 goats from the past 2 ryder cups together? Especially in a best ball format. Makes zero sense.
