Furyk and Mahan?? In a best ball? Seems like that would've been a better 4somes team.

Yeah Furyk 1-8-1 in fourball.

It just comes down to McGinley having so many different options cuz his players are better.

What is it about some of these Euros that makes them play so well in Ryder cup? We need to figure that out and replicate it. These guys are total fricking head-cases in a major on Sunday and can't ever get it done:

Westwood
Sergio
Stenson
Poulter

Their best guy in majors, Rory, is sub-par in Ryder cup. It doesn't make sense.

Rose/Stenson vs Bubba/Kuchar

+1 Europe

Donaldson/Westwood vs Furyk/Mahan

halved

Bjorn/Kaymer vs Reed/Spieth

+1 USA

McIlroy/Poulter vs Walker/Fowler

+1 Euro

Down 7.5 to 4.5 going to the afternoon imo. I'll add that there is more likelihood that the US gets swept in these matches than we take a gain on points in the first half of saturday. hope im wrong

That's why we were wanting more play from the young guys

If I recall, that's kind of the mentality that won the 2008 Ryder Cup for us.

Not necessarily young, but not emotionally scarred either:

Anthony Kim
JB Holmes
Boo Weekley

I think we should get rid of the "automatic qualifieers" altogether and let the captain pick all 12. Jim Furyk keeps making the team but that dude gets his arse handed to him 2/3 of the time.

Boo Weekley

Even though he sucked this year, I would take him on this team over Webb. When you put American pride on the line, Boo steps up to the fricking plate. I think he shot 7 or 8 under through 16 in his singles match in 2008.

The best part is he watched it and picked up his tee like he just piped it...He was probably thinking, "Play it cool, maybe they won't be able to tell you just skyed it 110 yards."

I'm glad I didn't stay up late to watch that first tee shot live. I would've turned off the TV and gone to bed if I was.

The Webb Simpson captains pick will be criticized pretty harshly if the US doesn't come back to win.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I was completely convinced that the first days 8 matches were pre-planned so that everyone could prepare accordingly. But now Watson says that he did make a change, and that change didn't include Speith nor Reed?
