Rivals insider: outside scrutiny coming for cfb recruiting

There have been rumblings, too, that we should expect more outside scrutiny on recruiting practices around the country, similar to what we saw in basketball. It’s come to a head because of the cutthroat nature of recruiting and folks from some of the schools “best” at their practices now seeing brazen attempts to duplicate them.
The problem — some of these machines have been rolling for years, and duplicating their success isn’t as easy as it seems. When you draw attention to one, it draws attention to the whole process and everyone is under the microscope.
We’ll see what comes of it, but we’ve heard this from a few different sources now. At the very least, it’s fun to think about the potential comeuppance (and for those who don’t believe there’s been any on the basketball side, go take a look at how some of the most scrutinized programs have been recruiting lately).
Chris Balas, UM insider. Fairly connected, but doubt it amounts to anything
Just thought you wanted some intrigue going into Easter weekend
Notice the wording:
“Programs trying to duplicate the recruiting practices of other programs”
One program has the system figured out and the scrutiny is coming because it’s being noticed that other coaches and programs are trying to duplicate it
Which program is the hub?

I read a string of words put together that neither explained a topic nor offered insight to an existing one. Terrible article.

this is how you type three paragraphs without saying a damn thing

It is absolutely what happened to LSU and Wade. Wade was the new kid on the block making deals with the cops around and risked attention to the old guard.

Why is it that every smug recruiting article is written by a Michigan alum?

Those pictures are perfect well done

I think everyone realizes that Bama has the system down, but now Georgia is doing it and getting sloppy

Completely meaningless commentary from that writer.
The only reason anything happened in college basketball is because of a completely fluky occurrence where a guy involved in a Ponzi scheme in Pittsburgh wanted to reduce his prison sentence and came up with an idea to see if he could get basketball coaches and runners for agents to take and/or offer bribes.
And the only reason Will Wade was brought in to any of this is because he was caught on a wiretap with a guy who was one of the first targets of the man running the Ponzi scheme. Wade was a guy with one year of experience at a power school and had gone .a little over .500 and beat ULL in the NIT up to that point.

Please...UGA recruiting is where it should have been for years. No school in the country has a better in-state recruiting advantage.
CMR had slipped to a pathetic level in recruiting the last half of his career.

His Miami stint also supports this.

Miami has the best recruiting advantages of any Power 5 school. You can build a top ten class every year and never have to go further than an hour from your campus to do it.
They really need a Schnellenberger type down there again. And yeah I probably spelled his name wrong.

I don't completely agree with this. While UGA is a big fish in a talent rich pond, they have Clemson, FSU and Auburn less than 25 miles from the state border, which is just an arbitrary line on a map. Tennessee, Florida and S. Carolina aren't that far either. Just about any in-state recruit UGA targets, they will be quickly flanked by a nearby traditional power.

They need to look into that mega church Dabo is involved with that funnels money to recruits.
