stats are the dumbest QB arguments these days when everyone has great stats in this pitch and catch league where you can't touch a receiver (see game deciding Bengal defensive holding call in the SB.)

It's what your peers thought of you, the media and people who covered the game

this seems kind of dumb.

Stafford has been to the probowl as much as Mitch Trubisky.

Doesn’t say much. Lamar Jackson made the pro bowl this year with more deserving players in front of him. It’s all become a popularity contest.

I'd give him that if everybody played in the probowl when voted in but there's been at least one replacement QB a season for like the last decade and he's still not making it. Making the more prestigious allpro team is also an option.

Just for fun - NBA numbers

Total NBA players - 4,374
Total HOF members - 178
NBA % - 4.1%

I did not know any of this beforehand. Thought the MLB would be the most exclusive and the NBA would have a 5 or 6 times higher percentage, not 2-3 times more.

Keep in mind the BB HOF is not just NBA players.

Stafford was stuck with Lions
What if he was with Patriots for a decade?
It's all subjective

I think we said the same thing you were just saying it more angrily. He will finish easily inside the top 10 at both passing yards and TDs. maybe closer to 5th really depending on how long he plays. He is a sign of the times. Never been easier for a QB to put up monster #s.

I don't think people ITT realize just how extraordinarily bad stafford's career teams have been. The guy has put up massive stats and even a few playoff appearances with a dog shite franchise and yall want to hold it against him he doesn't have more league MVPs or super bowl appearances? Do you hear yourselves?

Let Stafford play his entire career from drafting til now wiht the packers or the patriots and people would have already presented him with the HOF jacket already.

The NFL hall is actually more exclusive than the MLB hall.

I knew this was going to be part of it but I do think it needs to be considered that NFL rosters are 53 players compared to MLB rosters with 25. I know it makes no difference in the final total of % but it is relevant along with the MLB has roughly 20 more years than the formation of the NFL and they still have less HOF members than the NFL.

Yes NBA is the worst about it.

ETA: Also many of those MLB inductees didn't actually play in the MLB or Negro Leagues or play long enough to get in based on their skill as a player...Connie Mack..Branch Rickey..even John McGraw although he was a great hitter... I can't find data to show how many of the NFL players actually played and were inducted for their achievements on the field.

Tom Brady wouldn't have zero playoff wins if he was a Lion. The Bucs went from Lion-quality to Super Bowl champion in one year.

That's not subjective.

He’s not, and the gulf between induction into the NFL HOF and the MLB HOF is immense. It’s silly how different their criteria are.

We can say this about a lot of QBs though. Archie Manning isn't in the hall either but probably would be if he swapped teams with Staubach.

Archie didn't get in even though he could've done what Bradshaw did.

That 178 number is only the number of players in the HOF. However, the total number of NBA players is 111, not 178. The total number of members in the HOF is over 400

Had Stafford been QB of the Patriots the past decade he woul d have more than 1 Super Bowl.

Stafford was being held back by Detroit. This is why the Manning family fought against Eli going to San Diego.

that's certainly not proveable

the year prior they had 3 Pro-bowlers including 2 at WR. They also brought in a RB that averaged 5 YPC in the playoffs during tom's year.

Compare the 2019 bucs to the "average" lions team over the last decade and it's not even comparable.
