His response to a former NFL player about Stafford's HOF argument.

Richard Sherman @ RSherman_25

I’m gonna talk about it on the podcast but the HOF bar is incredibly low now. Like a participation trophy. No all decade team. No All pro. No MVP. 1 Pro bowl. Not even MVP of the SB. Never considered the best in any year he played. At least M. Ryan has an MVP

He makes good points unfortunately. A QB with one pro bowl doesn't scream HOF'er to me. He still has several years left so maybe he can continue to improve his resume with his new team

With his trajectory he will be near the top of the record books at many passing stats. A super bowl could be what gets him in. Sign of the times when it comes to passing stats and the way the league is officiated. Matt Ryan is in the same boat.

The only sport that does it right is MLB, less than 1% of the players who've stepped on the diamond

If Stafford doesn’t make the Hall nor should Sherman’s ghetto elf troll looking arse.

Membership for Hall of Fames will always be increasing due to the expansion and years passing. They are meant to be a place to celebrate the history of the game and the achievements of the players over the years. People who complain about this player or that player getting in “cheapening” the Hall are a bunch of whiny arse sissies. Then again, we all know that Sherman has proven to be a whiny arse sissy sooooooooo

I don't think Sherman should make the HOF either, but he has a better argument than Stafford right now IMO

They take it too far, this past year's class is a great example.

Sam Mills doesn't deserve to be in, but here we are. 5 Pro Bowls and 3 All Pro.

Might as well put Greg Lloyd in, as he was better. 5 Pro Bowls and 3 times 1st team All Pro.

What about Chris Spielman. He had 4 Pro Bowls and 3 times on all pro team.

The criteria are absurd.

Wow, I would’ve guessed 3-4 Pro Bowls for him especially with how dog shite the Pro Bowl is these days.

But I guess he did play during some elite QB play in the NFC during the 10s

Rodgers
Brees
Wilson
Cam for a few years
Peak Matt Ryan

but at the end of the day..who really gives a frick? It doesn't matter, its just cannon fodder for the debate shows.

having a strict hall of fame or letting basically anyone in that was pretty good doesn't really affect my life in any way.

i agree it should be reserved for the greatest of all time players ONLY

a player or coach shouldnt be in the HOF just because he was in the NFL for 12 years.

its supposed to be the HOF, and not the hall of all the guys who participated in the NFL for several years.

This is why the Matthew Stafford HOF talk is crazy to me. Good job to him on winning a SB. But he's never been a top 3, hell, even top 5 qb.

Keep the HOF for the likes of Brady, Manning, Favre, Rogers, Brees, and maybe Big Ben.

Once you start trying to include guys like Matt Ryan and Matthew Stafford. It really becomes watered down. The next thing you know they'll try to include guys on the level of Cam Newton and Ryan Tannehill.

Sherman has been an all-pro 5 times and made the all decade team. Stafford has been to the probowl as much as Mitch Trubisky.

Total MLB players - 19,969
total HOF members - 340

Total NFL players - 23,204
Total HOF members - 362

MLB % - 1.7%
NFL % - 1.5%

The NFL hall is actually more exclusive than the MLB hall.

Just for fun - NBA numbers

Total NBA players - 4,374
Total HOF members - 178
NBA % - 4.1%

I did not know any of this beforehand. Thought the MLB would be the most exclusive and the NBA would have a 5 or 6 times higher percentage, not 2-3 times more.

Gotta disagree here, given recent selections and their reasoning

Throwing for a shite ton of yards doesn't mean jack squat in this era.

Stats are the dumbest QB arguments these days when everyone has great stats in this pitch and catch league where you can't touch a receiver (see game deciding Bengal defensive holding call in the SB.)

It's what your peers thought of you, the media and people who covered the game and how you measured up against your peers. You can't fricking put every really good QB from this era in the HOF just cause STATS!
